La Liga Week 11 Predictions, Picks, Odds: Celta Vigo vs. Getafe, Girona FC vs. Osasuna

With La Liga already in its eleventh matchday, things are getting hotter in Spain as the season heads for the winter months. Real Madrid and Barcelona are still vying for first place at the top, while a number of other teams lag behind them. Let's look more closely at a couple of them that I'm focused on this week.

Celta Vigo has recently been crashing back to earth after a respectable start to the season that saw them pick up three wins right away. The squad has dropped three of its last four games, including three in a row before this one. It's important to note that Vigo has a goal difference of -5 over their most recent three-game losing streak, which was highlighted by their most recent 4-1 road loss to Valladolid last week.

For Getafe, two straight games that resulted in draws gave them points after a tough start. Their most recent success came last week when they held off a determined Athletic Bilbao attack at home, ending the game 2-2 following a back-and-forth contest.

I'm taking the sizable dog here because I think there is lots of value in a game that I have much closer to, even on paper.

With just two victories in nine games, Girona FC's elevation to the top level this season has gone about as well as might have been predicted. However, they have lost four of their previous five games since their last one, a win that occurred all the way back on September 9. Their most recent appearance on the field was one of the closest since, as they fell to Almeria 3-2 on the road.

With a 1-0 victory against Espanyol last week, the visiting Osasuna moved up to #7 on the table and are now within reach of the coveted top five spots. Osasuna has depended on a balanced approach, winning five games so far for one of their better starts in recent memory despite having a goal differential of 0 after 10 games.

In this one, I believe Osasuna maintains its momentum and emerges victorious for the second time in a row. While they don’t have any elite-level strikers, I think we see Osasuna’s Ezequiel Ávila be a difference-maker in this one, finding the back of the net at least once.
