Almost one-third into the 2022–2023 La Liga season, the top (and bottom) of the standings are starting to form. Matchday 9 will have Barcelona vs. Real Madrid square off for the first time this season as another iteration of the storied El Classico approaches.

Let's dive into the rest of the slate as we examine two games I'm paying close attention to as the week progresses. Both I believe, still have plenty of value left from a betting perspective.

Cadiz vs. Girona FC Prediction

Girona FC enjoyed a good start to their first season in the top league, collecting seven points after five games, but things have gotten more challenging as they enter this game with three straight losses. However, a deeper examination reveals that those three matches were against some of the top La Liga squads, including Real Betis, Atletico Madrid, and Real Sociedad.

While Cadiz's season started with five straight losses, as it wasn't the start they were expecting. They do enter this game with three straight matches in which they've earned points. Contrary to Girona, though, those victories have come over some of the league's poorest opponents, most recently Espanyol in a 2-2 tie last week. Cadiz has a goal differential of -13 in eight games, which places them second to last in the league going into this match.

With Girona FC still establishing a name for themselves in this league, I think Castellanos and Alex Garcia together will make the difference in this one as they route the less talented Cadiz on the road.

Real Sociedad vs. Celta Vigo Prediction

After a promising start, Celta Vigo lost three of their previous four games heading into this one. They haven't simply lost either; over that time, they have a -6 goal differential due to their inability to effectively prevent many shots from finding the backside of the net.

Real Sociedad enters this match with a record of 5-1-2, following up on a good 2021–22 with a strong start to this season. They have won three straight games, posting a +4 goal difference in the process, and things have been especially terrific lately. They are currently tied for fourth place in the standings after their recent run, showing that the race for a place in the Champions League is proceeding as planned.

Top striker Brais Méndez, who is presently tied for fourth on the table with five goals on the season, is expected to have a strong game in this one. Hitting the road, look for Real Sociedad to come away victorious in this one, as they take control of the game in the second half.
