La Liga Week 8 Predictions, Picks, Odds: Real Madrid vs. Getafe, Mallorca vs. Elche
We have officially seven of 38 weeks in the books in the 2022-23 La Liga season, as teams returned last week following a break across Europe. As the calendar turns to fall, let’s take a closer look at a couple of the games I’m most interested in this weekend in Spain’s top professional league.

La Liga Week 8 Predictions
Real Madrid vs. Getafe Prediction

For the first time, this season Real Madrid failed to win a game in La Liga last week, playing Osasuna to a 1-1 draw as they came back from the break. Still having yet to suffer a defeat, Real Madrid has been on a torrid pace to start this season, picking up six straight wins in the weeks prior while racking up a goal differential of +11. Once again, it appears as if it will be a two-team race this season, as they now sit dead even with arch-rival Barcelona, both with 19 points atop the table.
For Getafe, things have certainly improved year over year, currently sitting #14 on the table with a record of 2-1-4. Having won two of their past three, they did lose the last time we saw them on the pitch, a 2-3 loss at home vs. Valladolid. Coming into this one with a goal differential of -7, Getafe’s tasks won’t get any easier this week as they welcome Real Madrid to town.
Led by the No. 3 scorer in La Liga in Vinicius Junior, I like for Real Madrid to take control of this one early and win by two goals or more by the time all is said and done.

There are few things I like in all of sports betting more than betting against Elche of La Liga. A bottom-feeder last year that only narrowly avoided relegation, they have picked up right where they left off this season; coming into this one with a record of 1-6-3. Their goal differential of -15 is the worst in the league, pinned down by their staggering 18 goals allowed through seven games.
As far as Mallorca is concerned, a decent start to the season has been overshadowed by the fact they have lost two of their past three. A close look, however, shows that those two losses have come against Barcelona and Real Madrid, the far and away top talents in La Liga. The last time we saw them on the pitch they actually hung with Barcelona for much of the match, falling 1-0 as the final whistle sounded.
Led by striker Veda Muriqi at the top and midfielder Lee-Kang In centrally, I like for this Mallorca team to handle business in this one and get back in the win column.
