Cleveland Guardians vs. Baltimore Orioles Prediction: Can Grayson Rodriguez Get the Orioles Back on Track?

The Baltimore Orioles host the Cleveland Guardians in the series finale of their three-game series from Camden Yards tonight. The Orioles are on the verge of being swept at home as the Guardians have taken the first two games of the series.

CLEVELAND GUARDIANS VS. BALTIMORE ORIOLES PREDICTION

The Guardians are red hot right now, riding a seven-game winning streak, which has given them the best winning percentage in baseball at the moment at 66.2%. Their offense has looked as good as ever since Steven Kwan came back from his injury and they have given the Orioles everything they could handle over the first two games of the series.

The Orioles have been struggling as of late, as they are on a five-game losing streak. While their offense has been mostly good, their starting pitching has faltered a bit. Hopefully, Grayson Rodriguez can fix this today as he has been one of the most consistent pitchers for the Orioles but is coming off a bad outing against the Astros.

Last time out. Grayson Rodriguez gave up seven earned runs in five innings against the Astros. Prior to that, Grayson Rodriguez had a 3.2 ERA on the season and had pitched three straight quality starts in June. Rodriguez has been a solid piece of this Orioles rotation since debuting last season and has been phenomenal pitching in Camden yards with a 2.21 ERA at home. Although the Guardians are a very imposing lineup, I expect him to bounce back tonight at home. The Guardians will be starting Carlos Carrasco. Carrasco is a veteran of the MLB who has been pitching since 2009. Carrasco had a few elite years from 2014 to 2018 but has been mostly average in his career with a 4.1 career ERA. Over the last few seasons, Carrasco has really struggled and now has a 5.4 ERA this year in 13 starts. While he is coming off a great start against the Blue Jays, allowing just one earned run in six innings, Carrasco has been known to be wildly inconsistent, and he has struggled on the road. Carrasco has a 5.95 road ERA and has allowed six home runs in 39 innings on the road. This is the best pitching matchup the Orioles have gotten in this series so far and they should be able to take advantage. The offense looked good last night, putting up eight runs, but unfortunately, the pitching let them down as they gave up 10 to the Guardians. Tonight, with Rodriguez on the mound, he should be able to keep the Guardian's bats at bay while the Orioles tee off on Carasco. I’m backing the Orioles on the first five-run line to jump out to an early in this game and at least be in the lead going into the sixth inning here.
