England vs. Denmark Picks, Odds, Lineups For the 2023 Women's World Cup Group D

England vs. Denmark Start Time, Where to Watch, and Odds

  • Date: Friday, July 28, 2023
  • Start Time: 4:30 am ET
  • Where to Watch: FS1

England earned an underwhelming 1-0 win over Haiti on Saturday. It's been a low-scoring World Cup, but England was expected to score more goals and win by a much larger margin than just 1-0.

England took 21 shots and had 11 on goal. But only one shot found the back of the net. Meanwhile, Haiti took seven shots and had just two shots on goal. England outplayed Haiti, but more goals will likely be necessary for its next game against Denmark.

Denmark's first matchup was against China, where they also earned a 1-0 win. Denmark earned a late goal against China to propel them through the tournament's first game. Denmark has won their last four games, including this one against China.

This won't be an easy matchup for England. Let's check out the betting data for England vs. Denmark Group D.

Much like most teams in the World Cup's first game, England didn't look sharp. England scored one goal early and failed to add any more after that.

They'll take on a Denmark team that should be competitive against England. Denmark hadn't been in the World Cup for 16 years before their matchup against China. But they finished runners-up in the Tournoi de France earlier this year and are only nine spots lower than England in the FIFA women's soccer rankings.

Don't be shocked if Denmark keeps this matchup close and earns a tie.

England vs. Denmark Prediction

Denmark isn't going to be an offensive powerhouse. England's expected to score more goals throughout the tournament and this game.

However, Denmark played Spain as a tune-up and only allowed two goals to a Spain team that scored nine against Vietnam, three against Costa Rica, and five against Zambia.

England needs to finish their chances and have more urgency in this game. They'll make adjustments, but so will Denmark.

In a July tune-up, England couldn't score against Portugal. That game finished 0-0. The chances might be there, but England isn't finishing.

The Under makes the most sense in this matchup. You can also take a chance on a Draw at +350.

England vs. Denmark Projected Lineups

England projected starting lineup 4-3-3 (from right to left): Earps (GK) - Bronze, Bright, Carter, Greenwood - Stanway, Walsh, Toone - Kelly, Russo, Hemp.

Denmark projected starting lineup 4-3-3 ( from right to left): Christensen (GK) - Sevecke, Ballisager, Boye, Veje - Hasbo, Holmgaard, Kuhl - Thomsen, Harder, Sorensen.

England World Cup Odds

England has -5000 odds to win Group D. Denmark is second on the list at +600 to win Group D.

After a 1-0 win over Haiti, a loss against Denmark, or even a tie, could hurt England's chances of actually winning Group D.

I don't recommend taking England to win Group D. There's no value there. However, England is still second on the list to win the World Cup. That's also not a bet I'd want to place right now, not after its first match against Haiti.
