England vs. Australia Picks, Odds, Lineups For the 2023 Women's World Cup Semifinals

England vs. Australia Start Time, Where to Watch, and Odds

  • Date: Wednesday, August 16, 2023
  • Start Time: 6:00 am ET
  • Where to Watch: FOX

England and Australia will compete for a World Cup Championship appearance against Spain on Wednesday, August 16, at 6:00 am ET.

England escaped Columbia with a 2-1 win in the quarterfinals. Minutes after Leicy Santos earned Columbia's first goal, Lauren Hemp of England added a goal for England right before the first half concluded.

In the second half, England's Alessia Russo added the game-winner in the 63rd minute, giving England a 2-1 victory over Columbia.

Meanwhile, Australia needed a penalty shootout to get by France in the quarterfinals. The game was scoreless until Australia won the penalty shootout to advance.

Will we get another tight, low-scoring matchup between England and Australia?

England vs. Australia Odds and Betting Data

ResultOddsImplied Chance
England Win+13542.55%
Draw+19533.90%
Australia Win+23030.30%

The competition is getting much more difficult now. England only has a 42.55% chance of earning a win against Australia in the semifinal matchup. They've had at least 50% odds in every other World Cup game.

As a reminder, these odds are for regular time only and don't include overtime. You'd win the bet if you select draw and the game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes.

If you bet England to win and England wins in extra time, this bet would lose. You would need to bet England to advance at higher odds due to a higher probability.

England vs. Australia Prediction

Australia has been resilient. But they haven't been incredible.

Australia only put four shots on goal against France and added 14 shots in total. Meanwhile, France added 21 shots and only five shots on goal. Still, France won the possession battle slightly, and France added four more corner kicks in the quarterfinals matchup against Australia.

Meanwhile, England won possession 61% to 39% against Columbia and added six shots on goal, despite only taking ten shots total. Columbia took more shots, but England added more shots on goal.

England's more precise and should end up with more possession and corner kicks, just from putting the ball on the net more frequently.

Let's take England at +130 to win in regulation.

England vs. Australia Projected Lineups

England projected starting lineup 3-4-1-2 ( from right to left ): Earps (GK) - Carter, Bright, Greenwood - Bronze, Stanway, Walsh, Daly - James - Russo, Hemp.

Australia projected starting lineup 4-4-2 ( from right to left ): (GK) - Arnold - Carpenter, Hunt, Kennedy, Catley - Raso, Gorry, Cooney-Cross, Foord - van Egmond, Fowler.

England vs. Australia World Cup Odds

There are only three teams left in the entire World Cup. Spain defeated Sweden in the first semifinal matchup, leaving Spain, England, and Australia as the only three teams that could win the World Cup.

Spain is sitting at -125. They're guaranteed a spot in the World Cup Final. Meanwhile, England is at +200, and Australia is at +400 to win the World Cup.

There are different hedging strategies that you can use if you like England or Australia to win the semifinals. However, nothing is guaranteed for England or Australia in their matchup.
