The match I am playing tonight is between two of the Americans remaining, Frances Tiafoe versus Ben Shelton. Both of these guys have looked spectacular in this tournament thus far, and I expect them to put on a show tonight for the US crowd.
If you told me last month these two were facing off, I would’ve sided with Frances easily, but things have changed, and Ben Shelton has looked very strong. His serve has looked so dominant, and he dismantled the American Tommy Paul in the last round, winning in four sets.
In fact, he broke the record on serve speed in the US Open, topping 149 mph. This 20-year-old kid will be special in the years to come, and he should represent the US proudly today. Frances Tiafoe continues to be a top 10 player, destroying every competitor that steps in front of him. He made a ton of noise last year in the US Open, and he hasn’t disappointed this year.
These courts are made perfect for his game, and he will indeed put on a great battle tonight. I expect these two to hold their serve in convincing fashion tonight.
