The Edmonton Oilers and the Colorado Avalanche meet in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals tonight, in Denver. Tone's Takes breaks down the game.
ANALYSIS

Colorado Avalanche vs. Edmonton Oilers Prediction: Will the Offensive Onslaught Continue in Game 2?

In what seemed like more of an All-Star game than a Conference Final, Game 1 saw plenty of action as the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Edmonton Oilers by an 8-6 count. J.T. Compher notched two goals for the Avs and Cale Makar had a goal and two assists. Connor McDavid had a goal and an assist and Leon Draisaitl added two assists for the Oilers.

All four goalies were used in this game as Mike Smith was pulled after allowing six goals on 25 shots, and Darcy Kuemper left with blurred vision. The Avalanche outshot the Oilers 47-37 in Game 1.

Avalanche vs. Oilers Game 2 Total Movement

Colorado Avalanche vs. Edmonton Oilers Game 2 Prediction

I can't believe I have to lay juice to get a total of seven but that is what I am doing tonight. Eight of Edmonton's 13 playoff games have reached seven goals, with seven of them going over. Seven of Colorado's 11 playoff games have reached seven goals, with six of them going over.

Both of these teams can score at will and I think this series will continue to be a track meet as I don't think either goalie can shut down either offense for a long enough period to keep these games low scoring, especially if Darcy Keumper is out with a prolonged injury. Both teams have depth, the Avs a little more as shown in Game 1 by the two Compher goals, and both teams generate off the rush as their Defensemen are very mobile. Both teams have dangerous Power Plays as these are two of the top five scoring Power Plays in the playoffs.

There were only four penalties taken in Game 1, with each team going 1-2 on the Power Play, one would think, as the series goes on, that more penalties will be taken as each team tries to slow down the other. I see another high-scoring game tonight and will go with the over, just as I did in Game 1.
