The Rangers are eight games below .500. After winning the World Series last year, this is now more than just a hangover at this point. Everyone is counting the Rangers out considering how bad of a recent stretch they’ve been on, but after stealing the last game of the series against the Orioles will we see this team finally wake up?

It’s not going to be easy for the Rangers to start their series off with a win on Tuesday. They will have to face Dylan Cease, who is coming off a near no hitter in his last outing. If Cease was going to shove once again, don’t you think the red-hot Padres would be favorites in this game?
Well, the Padres did briefly open up as the betting favorites in this game, but the Rangers have since been steamed up to a short favorite. This is an interesting move considering more than 60% of the bets and handle (on VSiN) are currently backing the Padres. Typically the odds move with the money, so it’s a great sign for Rangers backers seeing the home team catch some steam in this spot.
Nathan Eovaldi is coming off one of his worst outings of the season in Milwaukee, but he’s been much better at home this season. Eovaldi owns a 2.22 ERA at home this season. I’ll back the Rangers with their seasoned veteran on the bump on Tuesday. I don’t think this Rangers team can make the playoffs at this point, but I want to ride their momentum coming off a big win in Baltimore.
The Padres are one of the hottest teams in baseball right now, but they are now underdogs against the struggling Rangers. Fade the public on Tuesday and back the Rangers as favorites on their home ballpark. I’m willing to bet Eovaldi shoves at home once again, and I want to ell high on an inconsistent Cease after a great outing.
