The Los Angeles Angels will take on the Oakland Athletics on the 4th of July and I have a ladder play that I am real like for this game. I am looking to target Angels righty Taylor Ward against Athletics' lefty JP Sears.

Taylor Ward is a hitter that I love to target against left-handed pitching. He is absolutely mashing lefties this season with a .349 expected batting average along with a .654 expected slugging percentage. Seven of his last nine batted balls against lefties have been hit over 93 MPH exit velocity with two of those being home runs.
I do think he has a great chance to go yard here and it helps that both Luis Rengifo and Nolan Schanuel have been hitting well as of late. Hopefully they are on base for us when Ward steps to the plate. The pitch mix also sets up nicely for Taylor Ward as he hits them all pretty well against lefties so far this season.
JP Sears takes the mound today for Oakland and he is a pitcher that I have liked to target this season for hitter props. He ranks in the 23rd percentile in expected ERA and the 34th percentile for expected batting average. He has given up a ton of hard contact ranking in the 14th percentile in barrel percentage as well.
Against right-handed batters, Sears has allowed a .270 expected batting average and a .505 expected slugging percentage. Sears has allowed at least three runs in six of his last eight starts and I think we see the Angels offense catch fire here. I expect Ward to barrel up a couple baseballs and drive in some runs today.
