Oakland Athletics vs. Minnesota Twins Prediction
Spence has gone under the radar but he has pitched well in what ever role the A's have asked him to pitch in this season. He's currently making the transition to a starter role and he's delivered back to back solid outings for Oakland.
In his last start, he gave his ball club seven innings and limited the Toronto Blue Jays to just two runs. In the start before that, he faced some adversity against the Seattle Mariners allowing four earned runs in the first four innings but he was able to settle in and get through six full innings.
His pitch count has gradually increased in his time as a starter and we've seen him throw just under 100 pitches on multiple occasions now. When you take a deeper look at his advanced metrics, he checks off a lot of the boxes there as well. As of right now, his 3.24 expected ERA puts him in the 75th percentile. He does a good job limiting the amount of walks he issues, has a high ground ball rate, and a respectable barrel percentage.
All in all, the rookie has shown that he simply knows how to pitch. He isn't going to over power hitters with his velocity but he has all the makings of a solid rotational starter. The books haven't quite adjusted their lines to how good he's looked as a starter. His pitching outs line is currently set at 15.5 which to me has a ton of value.
This isn't the easiest matchup on the road against a Minnesota Twins lineup that is seeing the ball well as of late but if Spence can keep the damage to a minimum he'll have the leash to pitching into the sixth inning and clear this line for us. Give me the over on Mitch Spence's 15.5 pitching outs and let's cash another article play!
