Would you believe this is the 148th Kentucky Derby? We can safely say no one has been to all of them, nor has anyone won. The drama around the Derby is always great, but it's extra special as Bob Baffert is suspended even though he has an interest in the race after the Medina Spirit drug test issues last year.

We already have had a few horses drop out, but we have a lot of horses and a big group (20), and the key to this race is going to be how you play it and try to hit the big payouts with a small amount of risk. This is the most exciting two minutes in sports, so reading this article will take longer than the race but let's see if we can make everyone some money on this bad boy.

Kentucky Derby Prediction

We have a lot of great choices in this race, including the Santa Anita Derby (Taiba), the Louisiana Derby winner (Epicenter), and the Wood Memorial winner (MO Donegal). The Derby pretty much has co-favorites, and that is Zandon and Epicenter. We can list odds, but they will change, so there is no point in listing them, but these are the two horses you want in your exactas and trifectas and superfectas, as they will be there at the end.

Epicenter has won four out of his six races, so this horse is here to win and why it's a co-favorite. Epicenter did get a bad post position, as many people look at that, and #3 isn't one you want, but this horse will be there at the end.

Zandon, the other co-favorite, got the #10 post which is great for his style of running with the deadly kicks down the lane, and we can see Zandon being there at the end if Flavien Pratt waits for the right moment at the top of the stretch.

Messier, probably named after an NHL player, is the horse you want to be very scared of as it's Bob Baffert's horse, and this horse has never finished worse than second even though it has only been six races. Bob Baffert's horses always come into play, so you need to look into them, and Taiba, which used to be under Baffert's control as a horse getting a lot of attention in this race for good reason.

There is one long shot we love in this race: Cyberknife (#16). This horse has winning in its blood and won the Arkansas Derby, and at the 20-1 current odds, we feel it is truly getting the best value of any horse in this race.

We recommend Zandon horse 10 at 3-1 as your BEST BET for this race. We also recommend Epicenter horse 3 at 7-2 odds. We feel these two are favorites for a reason and will be there at the end.

We also like Messier Horse 6 and our long shot horse 16 cyberknife at 20-1.

So bet the two favorites with Zandon as our best choice and throw a little on the 16 long shot for WPS.

10-3-6 exacta and Win Place Show would be smart bets on these three as we feel these three are the best bets to finish in the W-P-S spots and get you paid. 10-3-6-16- box the 4 and add 12-5, adding Taiba and Smile Happy for a huge superfecta.
