NBA Playoffs Props Tonight: Player Props to Target for Lakers vs. Nuggets Game 1 (5/16)

We've finally made it! The Conference Finals begin tonight in the Mile High City, as the Los Angeles Lakers take on the Denver Nuggets at 8:30 PM ET.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis are seeking their second championship with the Lakers. But Denver should prove to be quite a formidable opponent, especially with a home-court advantage. I'm not expecting a huge game out of AD tonight, as the Lakers enter this contest as 6-point underdogs.

Let's jump into today's picks!

NBA Playoffs Props - Tuesday, May 16

Anthony Davis + Aaron Gordon Same Game Parlay -135 is currently the best odds. Click here to see which sportsbooks have the best odds

Leg 1: Anthony Davis Under 27.5 Points

Leg 2: Anthony Davis Under 5.5 Assists

Leg 3: Aaron Gordon 4+ Rebounds

The Los Angeles Lakers have moved in a different direction offensively over their last few games. They've gone to Anthony Davis less over their last five games, instead opting for a more balanced offensive approach. This led to just 19.8 points per game and 3.0 assists per game for Davis after Game 1 of the Golden State Warriors series. He's posting only 21.4 PPG and 2.8 APG for the entire postseason, remaining under both of these lines in 10 of his 13 games.

Davis has dealt with his fair share of injuries over the last few seasons, leading to only three full games against the Nuggets. Here's how he performed in these three games:

  • 33 minutes, 13 PTS, 2 AST
  • 36 minutes, 22 PTS, 5 AST
  • 37 minutes, 23 PTS, 2 AST

I don't think AD will have the monster series that everyone is expecting, as Denver will throw different looks at him on defense, from Aaron Gordon to Nikola Jokic. The Brow's greatest impact in this series will come on the defensive end if he's performing well.

As for Aaron Gordon, he's grabbed at least five rebounds in 10 of 11 games this postseason, averaging 6.1 RPG. We're only asking for four boards, which he's pulled down in 45 of 50 games when seeing at least 30 minutes this season. He should be locked into around 34-36 minutes of action against a physical Lakers front line, and Denver will need him to help Jokic out on the glass to succeed.
