The Lakers play the Warriors for Game 5 in San Francisco. Will Steph Curry and the Warriors show up tonight? Handicapper Krabs breaks it down.
ANALYSIS

Golden State Warriors vs. Los Angeles Lakers Best Bet: Will Steph Curry, Warriors Show Up in Game 5?

Tonight could be the last time LeBron James and Stephen Curry face off in the playoffs. I’m not doubting either of these two goats, but Father Time is creeping up on them. In what has already been an incredible series, do Curry and the Golden State Warriors have any more fight left in them? Down 3-1 with their backs against the wall, I wouldn’t want to bet against the Warriors at home in this spot.

Golden State Warriors vs. Los Angeles Lakers Game 5 Prediction

Halfway through the NBA season, the Los Angeles Lakers were dead. Many were calling LeBron’s move to Los Angeles a flop, and with Anthony Davis missing significant time, the Lakers were barely able to sneak into the playoffs. Now a few weeks in, the Lakers look like the best team remaining. The midseason moves to trade Russ and bring in a new supporting cast for LeBron and AD have finally worked, and the Lakers are firing on all cylinders.

Golden State hasn’t looked sharp in this series. Many are saying that the Warriors are unable to beat LeBron without Kevin Durant. Curry and the Warriors are now 1-6 against LeBron since KD left the team. It’s now or never for the Splash Brothers, who do have the upper hand tonight playing on their home court.

It’s no surprise that Golden State wasn’t able to win a game on the road so far in this series. The Warriors have struggled away from home all year, winning only 11 of their 41 road games. At home, the Warriors completely flip the script. Golden State won 33 of their 41 home games this year and already dropped a game at home earlier in this series. Don’t expect Curry or the Warriors to lose another game in front of their home crowd.

If Lonnie Walker wants to come off the bench in the fourth quarter and drop another 15 points, so be it. I will happily charge that to the game if another role player goes off for the Lakers in this series. Personally, I think Steve Kerr is simply too good of a coach to allow another role player to go off like Walker did in game four.

The NBA needs this series to continue for both their wallets and TV ratings. This could be the last time two of the greatest NBA players face off against one another. With the spread moving from the -5 opener to GSW -7, oddsmakers are clearly expecting the Warriors to earn a much-needed victory to keep their Championship hopes alive.

Instead of laying the points on an increasing line, back Golden State on the moneyline and pair it with Stephen Curry to score 30+ points. This parlay reduced the risk of Golden State failing to cover late, and the Warriors simply have no chance tonight unless Curry drops thirty points. He’s been quiet for the majority of this series, but in front of his home crowd tonight, Curry will shine.
