NBA Playoffs Props Today: Two Props to Target for Tuesday (5/2)
We have some all-time entertaining Round 2 playoff basketball lined up today. The New York Knicks are looking to even up the series 1-1 at home against the Miami Heat at 7:30 PM ET.
Meanwhile, the first LeBron James vs. Stephen Curry head-to-head playoff series since the 2018 Finals begins tonight at 10:00 PM ET. Each conference is wide open, and we should see some high-level games this evening.
Let's jump into today's picks!
Tuesday, May 12 NBA Props
Bam Adebayo Under 18.5 Points (-110) Click here to find out which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick
Let's get things started with the Miami starting center. Bam Adebayo hasn't had the greatest scoring track record in the postseason or against the Knicks over the last couple of years. He scored just 16 points in Game 1, and I like his chances of remaining under this line again tonight.
Bam has scored less than 18.5 points in 7 of 8 games against New York over the last two seasons. He's averaged just 16.1 PPG in these games due to what has been a tough matchup for opposing bigs all year long. Mitchell Robinson has been fantastic and is the primary reason why the Knicks allowed the fewest points to opposing centers this season. He'll continue to make things tough for Bam inside.
The Kentucky product has also struggled to score at his usual clip in the postseason over the last couple of years. This under has cashed in 18 of Adebayo's 26 playoff games over the last two seasons. Plus, one of his few games scoring at least 19 points came when Jimmy Butler was sidelined last season. It looks like Jimmy will be on the floor tonight, so I don't see Bam scoring 20+ points in Game 2.
Golden State Warriors Under 17.5 Three Pointers Made (+100) Click here to find out which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick
This play is yet to fail me this postseason. In fact, dating back to their title run last season, this has cashed in 25 of 29 playoff games for the Warriors. They've averaged just 13.9 3PM per game in the playoffs over the last two years. And they failed to make more than 16 threes in any of their first-round games against the Sacramento Kings.
The Lakers held Golden State under this mark in three of their four regular-season meetings this season, while LA also held the Grizzlies to just 12 made threes per game in Round 1. Head Coach Darvin Ham hasn't done an excellent job this season, but he's ensured that his team limits the three-point volume of their opponents. The Lakers held opponents under 17.5 threes in 79 of their 88 games, good for an average of 10.8 threes allowed per game.
The Warriors, Bucks, Celtics, Kings, and Mavericks were the NBA's top five three-point shooting teams, going purely by makes this season. The Lakers held these teams below 17.5 3PM in 12 of their 16 meetings. I'm expecting the Lakeshow to really focus on limiting Golden State's three-point shooting in Game 1 tonight.
