St. Louis is coming off a massive weekend series win over their rival Chicago Cubs to propel themselves into second place inside the National League Central. On the flip side, Miami was swept and the fish have now dropped seven of their last eight.
This is just a really poor spot for Miami. They already put up a good fight early in the season against St. Louis who will obviously be looking for some vengeance tonight and now they have all the momentum. They hold sole possession of the second in the division and two other teams inside the division are clashing over the next few days which could provide further separation.
You need to take advantage of the opportunity you have here taking on one of the worst teams in the National League, especially here in game one wit ha massive advantage on the bump.
Cardinals Ace Sonny Gray has the ball tonight sporting an 8-4 record to go along with his 3.02 ERA. In 51 at bats against these Miami hitters, he has held them to a .235/.278/.270 slash line.
