Today is Corbin Burnes against Zack Wheeler on the Phillies vs. Orioles game. Some would argue these could be the two best pitchers in baseball. Despite both team having solid bats I’m expecting a low scoring game and the books agree with me.
We need just three outs from Wheeler, we are likely to avoid Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutschman here which is great news. Wheeler has slightly worse road splits but is still an absolute wagon with an ERA of 2.83 on the road. The Orioles' bats are a 9-39 against him lifetime so we’re in a good spot here.
We need Burnes to really throw a gem here as well. Burnes should avoid Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber, who are two serious home run threats. The Phillies' bats are 6-59 against him which is just a tick over .100. Burnes holds an impressive 1.70 home ERA and I expect more dominance today. The Orioles have not lost by 4+ runs in 17 games. With Burnes on the mound I would be shocked if the streak ends with him. Let's roll.
