Miami Marlins vs. Oakland Athletics Prediction: Can Paul Blackburn, Athletics Roll at Home Against Marlins?
Don’t look now, but the Oakland Athletics are only one game under .500 around 20% through the MLB season. Tonight they will be looking for their sixth straight win in a row. Will Paul Blackburn and the A’s hand the Marlins another loss on Saturday night, getting Oakland back to .500 this season?

Miami Marlins vs. Oakland Athletics Prediction
Trevor Rogers has been relatively consistent for the Marlins this season, but he’s given up three runs in each of his last two starts. The Athletics bats have been red-hot, and I’m predicting they put up a couple against Miami’s starter on Saturday. Their bullpen will give up a few as well as they continue to struggle.
Paul Blackburn has been dominant at home this season. He has a 1.42 ERA at home compared to a 5.63 ERA on the road. He’s has massive splits for the last couple of seasons, and there’s a large enough sample at this point to say he’s pretty consistent. I like Blackburn against the Marlins bats after they just traded their best hitter.
I typically don’t like fading bad news like that of Luis Arraez getting traded to the Padres yesterday, but the Marlins already have nothing to play for. That lineup has been struggling mightily all season, as they still look for their 10th win of the year. With Paul Blackburn on the bump for the A’s, I’m not seeing the Marlins finding much success at all on Saturday.
I’ve tried fading win streaks in baseball over the years, and I’ve come to the conclusion that it simply doesn’t work. Look at Chris Paddock and the Twins last night against Tanner Houck and the Red Sox. They continued their double-digit win streak when the sharps were on Boston. Back the A’s on their five game win streak on Saturday; Paul Blackburn is going to throw another gem at home.
