Best MLB Strikeout Bets: Lock In This Expert's Best MLB Player Prop Bets for Friday

I'm eying up a few pitching matchups for tonight's slate of games in the MLB.

Therefore, I've added three strikeout props that you'll want to consider for tonight's slate. Tail along if you agree with the analysis for each prop below!

May 17 Best MLB Strikeout Props

Nestor Cortes Over 6.5 Ks (-108) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

While Nestor Cortes has seen his strikeout rate drop this season, he's still added 23.3% of strikeouts against his first 219 batters faced.

The lefty has added 28.9% of strikeouts against lefties but has only accumulated 22.1% of strikeouts against righties.

However, he'll face a White Sox lineup that has already struck out 23.6% of the time against lefties this year. In addition, the White Sox figure to have a few lefties in the lineup, including Andrew Benintendi and Gavin Sheets. Both lefties have struck out more than 30% of the time against lefties this season.

In addition, the White Sox's projected lineup has five batters with strikeout rates beyond 23%.

I'll take my chances with the Over for Cortes tonight.

Tyler Alexander Under 3.5 Ks (-146) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

The Rays will pitch Tyler Alexander tonight. He's a lefty who has only struck out 19.1% of batters this season.

He'll be in line to face a Toronto lineup that should consist of eight righties. Alexander's strikeout rate against righties is a tad worse, at 18.3%. But he's also allowed a .248 ISO and wOBA of .383 to his first 126 righties.

It's unlikely Alexander lasts a full five innings.

In addition, the Blue Jays' projected lineup has struck out only 14.5% of the time against lefties this season. Just Davis Schneider has had trouble putting the ball in play against lefties 26.5% of the time. But he's also hit a .286 ISO and wOBA of .342 against lefties.

I'm not confident in Alexander tonight. Grab his Under.

Freddy Peralta Under 6.5 Ks (-142) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

Freddy Peralta is one of the best strikeout throwers in the MLB this season. But I'm fading him tonight.

Peralta is in line to face an Astros projected lineup that has only struck out 16.9% of the time against righties this season. Only Joey Loperfido has struck out more than 19.2% of the time against righties.

Therefore, the 6.5 number for Peralta is still too high despite his strikeout rate of 32%. Ultimately, Peralta has added 36.2% of strikeouts against lefties, but Peralta will likely face more righties in the Houston lineup.
