Toronto Blue Jays vs. Washington Nationals Prediction: Can Yusei Kikuchi, Blue Jays Take Care of Business?

Did anyone expect the Washington Nationals to have a better record than the Toronto Blue Jays at this point in the season? Toronto continues to struggle, as they are losers of seven of their last ten games. The scrappy Nats are hanging around .500 and will have their veteran left-hander on the bump against the Blue Jays tonight. Will Toronto continue to struggle, or will they do some damage against a left-handed starter tonight?

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Washington Nationals Prediction

The Blue Jays might be a couple games under .500, but they do mash left-handed pitching. Tonight, they will get to face one of the worst left-handed starting pitchers in baseball. Patrick Corbin gave up a grand slam in his last start to the Marlins, one of the worst offenses in baseball. How will he fare tonight against a struggling Toronto team looking to avenge some recent losses?

I don’t think Corbin has a chance to succeed against this hungry Blue Jays offense. They have much better numbers against LHP this season, and after some poor performances on the road against the Royals, Toronto will be extra-motivated to get back in the win column against one of the worst pitchers in baseball.

There’s a reason the Blue Jays are catching nearly 30 cents of steam on the road for tonight’s matchup against the Nationals. The Nats crushed lefties last season, but they’ve struggled to get going against LHP in 2024. Yusei Kikuchi has looked great this year for Toronto, and with how poor the Nationals offense has looked this week I wouldn’t be surprised if he shoves at Nats Park tonight.

I’m not expect much offensive success from the Nationals against a thriving left-hander tonight. Toronto has been struggling of late, but the Nationals play better on the road than they do at home for some reason. With how poor their offense has looked this week, don’t be surprised if they get shutout again by Toronto tonight. Fade the Nats and back Kikuchi and the Blue Jays on the runline tonight; I’ll meet you at the cash counter.
