Bookmakers Nearly Double Donald Trump’s Chances Of Pardoning Himself

One bookmaker in the UK has been taking bets on whether Donald Trump will grant himself a Presidential pardon before the end of his term in office.

This market has been available for a number of weeks now, and just seven days ago the odds on it happening were set at +400. Put simply, these odds implied a 20% probability and meant that a $10 wager would have netted a profit of $40.

Just a week later, however, those odds are now +175 – this means that $10 bet now would only net $17.50 and suggests the implied probability of Trump actually pardoning himself has risen to 36.36%.

OddsChecker spokesperson Tom Dodd: “There have been rumors swirling in the past 24 hours that Trump is taking advice on the potential pardoning of his three children and his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, but bookmakers seem to think he might go one step further.”

“No President has ever pardoned himself before in the history of the US, but this President has broken the mould in so many ways that it wouldn’t be a surprise were it to come to pass.”
