2024 Travelers Championship Odds: Bettors Backing Scottie Scheffler at TPC River Highlands

After watching Bryson DeChambeau win his second U.S. Open major in dramatic fashion at Pinehurst No. 2 on Sunday, the PGA Tour now prepares for its final Signature Event in 2024.

It's a field that remains loaded with talent, headlined by World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who is once again the overwhelming betting favorite at the 2024 Travelers Championship this week. Scheffler received over 17 percent of the betting handle in the outright winner market last week, but wound up going over par in all four rounds at Pinehurst No. 2, finishing T41 on the final leaderboard at 2-over-par.

His lackluster showing isn't impacting his popularity as the outright winner at TPC River Highlands this week, where Scheffler is once again getting over 17 percent of the betting handle to win his sixth event of the season. He just won the Memorial Tournament two weeks ago, marking his first career victory past the month of April.

Other popular outright winner tickets this week include Sungjae Im, Brian Harman, Robert MacIntyre, and Ludvig Åberg. PGA handicapper Matt MacKay is here to provide the latest betting data for these golfers in the outright winner betting market entering the eighth and final Signature Event of 2024.

In 2023, Keegan Bradley set a course record for the lowest score at TPC River Highlands, recording a final scorecard of 257, winning by three strokes over Brian Harman and Zac Blair at 23-under-par.

Bradley's not even in the top-five for most heavily bet golfers this week though, as he's struggled a bit lately. Instead, it's Scheffler as the dominant betting favorite with 17 percent of the betting handle, followed by Sungjae Im at 9.7 percent, Brian Harman at 7.3 percent, Robert MacIntyre at 6.6 percent, and Ludvig Åberg rounding out the top-five favorites at 4.88 percent.

Last week, Bryson DeChambeau was the third-most bet favorite in the outright betting market at the U.S. Open, receiving 8.9 percent of the betting handle, behind only Scheffler and Collin Morikawa. Harman scored 4-under-par or better in all four rounds at the 2023 Travelers Championship, while Im opened up 5-under-par but regressed in the following three rounds.

This will be Robert MacIntyre's debut at TPC River Highlands, but he did record his first outright win during the RBC Canadian Open a couple of weeks ago. Åberg held the outright lead entering Round 3 at the U.S. Open before struggling in the final two rounds, while finishing T24 at the 2023 Travelers Championship, falling to even par in Round 4.

TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP BETTING DATA

GOLFERPERCENTAGE OF BETS

Sungjae Im9.76%
Brian Harman7.32%
Robert MacIntyre 6.64%
Ludvig Åberg4.88%

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER (17.07%)

Scottie Scheffler performed well at this event in 2023, finishing T4 at 19-under-par. He's top-five in all strokes gained metrics, excluding putting, so Scheffler is poised to be in a great bounce-back spot at a course that cedes quite a few birdies.

Going even par in Round 2 was his only blemish on the scorecard last year. Scheffler recorded 5-under-par or lower in the other three rounds played.

Factor in his disappointing outing at Pinehurst, combined with the relative easiness of TPC River Highlands, which aligns with his elite ball-striking and off-the-tee prowess, it makes sense why bettors and oddsmakers remain bullish on Scheffler to contend for his sixth outright win in 2024.

Ranked first in SG: approach and fourth SG: off-the-tee, the World No. 1 is +400 to win outright, twice as short as Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy, who are the next betting favorites.

SUNGJAE IM (9.76%)

Sungjae Im is receiving close to 10 percent of the betting handle for the Travelers Championship this week. It's a bit surprising to see this amount of action on Im, who fizzled out after a red-hot start at TPC River Highlands in 2023.

He's alternated between missed cuts and top-ten finishes since the Wells Fargo Championship though, ranking 22nd off-the-tee, including 34th for driving accuracy. Im's approach shots have been awful though, ranked 119th on the PGA Tour this season, so he'll need to clean that up to contend down the stretch.

The South Korean native is available anywhere from 35-1 to 60-1, depending on the sportsbook bettors shop at. If Im can keep his pace of 5-under-par for more than one round, which he didn't do in 2023, he's a great value at this price.

BRIAN HARMAN (7.32%)

The reigning Open Championship winner, Brian Harman, is available at +4000 odds in the outright betting market this week.

Harman has posted a couple of top-five finishes in 2024, including a runner-up at The PLAYERS Championship, another Signature Event. He's been a bit off lately, falling around or just outside of the top-25 in five consecutive events.

Ranked 24th SG: putting, 56th SG: approach, and 53rd SG: around the green, Harman also possesses a top-40 accurate driver. It's why he managed to finish T2 at 20-under-par at TPC River Highlands in 2023, going 4-under-par and 6-under-par in all four rounds.

40-1 is a great price compared to Scheffler at 4-1, which explains why so many bettors are placing tickets on Harman to end his slump at a course he's fared well at in recent years. In 2022, Harman also logged a T8 finish at this event, and a T5 finish in 2021, so he'll be in his element at the final Signature Event of 2024.
