Scottie Scheffler 2024 PGA Championship Odds, Betting Preview, and Predictions

After the birth of his first child, Scottie Scheffler is back to compete for his first PGA Championship win. Located at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, it's a lengthy course, running over 7,600 yards and playing as a par 71.

The World No. 1 golfer has been red-hot lately, winning four of his past five events played, with the only blemish in the form of a runner-up at the Houston Open, which came on a missed birdie putt from five feet away. This would've forced a playoff against Stephan Jaeger.

Ranked first in nearly all strokes gained metrics, excluding putting, Scheffler is ready to conquer a stacked field at the second major of the 2024 PGA Tour season. He's fared well at this event in previous appearances, recording T2, MC, T8, and T4 since 2020. The Texas native had just started his PGA Tour career in 2014, so this will be the first time Scheffler tees it up at Valhalla Golf Club.

PGA handicapper Matt MacKay is back with the latest PGA Championship odds for Scottie Scheffler ahead of Round 1 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER PGA CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS: WINNER +400 (BET $100 TO COLLECT $500)

Oddsmakers are once again making Scottie Scheffler the outright betting favorite to win at Valhalla. There's little reason to doubt the World No. 1, especially since he's won two consecutive events, including The Masters, which was the first major of the 2024 PGA Tour season.

These are short odds considering that this is a major and the field is loaded with qualified, talented golfers. However, Scheffler ranks first in nearly all strokes gained metrics, and his game aligns nicely with the demands of Valhalla, since it runs over 7,600 yards and requires precision.

If Scheffler continues to putt like we've seen in the past two months, it's going to be hard to look anywhere else in the outright winner betting market this week, despite him making his debut at this course.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER PGA CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS: TOP 5 FINISH +105 (BET $100 TO COLLECT $205)

Scheffler hasn't fallen outside of a top-five finish since The Genesis Invitational back in mid-February. He has, however, missed a cut at the 2022 PGA Championship held at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Don't expect Scheffler to wind up far from the outright win in this event. He's built to dominate long, precise courses like Valhalla, even if he didn't compete here the last time the PGA Championship was played during Rory McIlroy's win in 2014.

+105 odds for a top-five finish is extremely short, but there's little reason to doubt Scheffler. He can climb the leaderboard quickly, stringing together insane birdie and eagle runs, so a slow start shouldn't create too much concern.

It's telling that every other golfer, excluding McIlroy, is 3-1 or longer to wind up with a top-five finish this week. Scheffler is on a legendary run that doesn't look like it's going to stop any time soon.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER PGA CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS: TOP 10 FINISH -190 (BET $190 TO COLLECT $290)

Oddsmakers have juiced Scheffler's top-ten finish odds in the Finishing Positions betting market this week. It makes sense though, since we've only seen the World No. 1 wind up outside of the top-ten in one event this season, which occurred during The American Express tournament in mid-January.

Since then, Scheffler has six top-five finishes, and two top-ten finishes at Pebble Beach and Genesis. Even Brooks Koepka, who has won three PGA Championships since 2018, including last year at Oak Hills, is +150 to wind up with a top-ten finish. This shows the rare dominance we're getting to watch and enjoy from Scheffler, who has spent the last couple of weeks resting following the birth of his first child.
