Jayden Daniels NFL Draft Odds: Which Team Will Draft Jayden Daniels In The 2024 NFL Draft?

After Caleb Williams goes off the draft board as the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, there's a lot of fluctuation surrounding what scouts and analysts expect Washington to do with the second pick.

Jayden Daniels is coming off of a Heisman Trophy campaign with the LSU Tigers, completing over 72 percent of his pass attempts for 40 touchdowns and only four interceptions. His mobility is another attractive aspect of Daniels' game, accounting for over 1,100 rushing yards and ten touchdowns as a ball carrier against SEC defenses in 2023.

His ridiculous 8.4 yards per carry average, combined with a strong arm that can accurately deliver downfield targets with ease, makes Daniels a highly coveted signal-caller. If it weren't for Williams, we'd likely have Daniels slated as the number one overall pick in the draft.

NFL handicapper and draft analyst Matt MacKay is here to offer betting insight for Daniels' continuously shifting betting markets ahead of opening draft night from Detroit, Michigan, on Thursday.

JAYDEN DANIELS NFL DRAFT ODDS

Washington's obvious need for a franchise quarterback looms large over their No. 2 overall pick entering Thursday night. The Commanders already moved off of Sam Howell, who recorded 3,946 passing yards during his second season, however, he threw just as many touchdowns (21) as interceptions.

Daniels' accuracy should be a top priority for the new regime in Washington, including head coach Dan Quinn. The addition of OC Kliff Kingsbury means we're likely going to see a similar Air Raid style offense that we grew accustomed to watching with Kyler Murray when Kingsbury served as head coach with the Arizona Cardinals.

Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, and Austin Ekeler comprise the current core of offensive skilled player talent in Washington, which is enough to work with if Daniels winds up selected second overall on Thursday night. However, Drake Maye and J.J. McCarthy have gained a lot of steam through the draft process, which is why odds continue to shift between these three quarterbacks at No.2 and No. 3 overall.

NFL DRAFT ODDS - FIRST OVERALL PICK

2024 NFL DRAFT PROSPECTODDS
Caleb Williams-20000
Jayden Daniels+7500
Drake Maye+9500
Bo Nix+10000
J.J. McCarthy+10000
Michael Penix Jr.+10000
Marvin Harrison Jr.+20000
Brock Bowers+30000

We're quickly recapping the first overall draft pick in NFL futures betting markets. Caleb Williams being -200-1 odds to be drafted No. 1 signals that oddsmakers, along with all other draft analysts and scouts, believe that Chicago takes Williams to be their franchise quarterback. Jayden Daniels is enticing at 75-1 odds but due to Williams being touted as a generational talent for several years, no action needs to be placed on Daniels until the second overall pick.

NFL DRAFT ODDS - SECOND OVERALL PICK

2024 NFL DRAFT PROSPECTODDS
Jayden Daniels-150
Drake Maye+350
J.J. McCarthy+1800
Bo Nix+10000
Brock Bowers+10000
Caleb Williams+10000
Joe Alt+10000
Malik Nabers+10000

This is where it gets spicy. Daniels is -150 at DraftKings Sportsbook to go second overall to the Commanders. Meanwhile, Drake Maye is now a distant second option at +350 odds. However, earlier in the draft process, Daniels was linked to the New England Patriots, who own the No. 3 overall draft pick.

There's also trades that we must attempt to factor in. Adam Schefter has reported that Minnesota has been calling about trading up to the third overall pick, packaging their two first-round picks to make this happen. Allegedly, it's for Drake Maye, which is why we're still getting minus odds on Daniels to be taken second overall by Washington.

-150 odds is much tighter than-200000 odds that we saw for Williams to be selected No. 1 overall. So, there is a small chance that Washington opts to draft Maye or McCarthy at No. 2, shocking the NFL world and returning nice value for any NFL Draft futures placed on either signal-caller.

NFL DRAFT ODDS - THIRD OVERALL PICK

2024 NFL DRAFT PROSPECTODDS
DRAKE MAYE-145
JAYDEN DANIELS+400
J.J. MCCARTHY+450
MARVIN HARRISON JR.+3100
JARED VERSE+10000
XAVIER WORTHY+10000
CALEB WILLIAMS+12000

The conspiracy of Caleb Williams linking up with his former play-caller at USC, Kliff Kingsbury, who now resides in Washington, is essentially a moot point with the Bears owning the first overall draft pick. However, Kingsbury, Quinn, and G.M. Adam Peters may prefer Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy as a better fit within the offensive scheme the Commanders are going to operate in 2024.

For now, Jayden Daniels is +400 to be selected with the third overall pick. Maye is the favorite at -145 odds at DraftKings. The New England Patriots need to prioritize quarterback at some point during the NFL Draft, however, there's increasing speculation that they accept a trade offer to receive more picks, taking their signal-caller later in the draft.

If Minnesota pulls off its trade, packaging its 11th and 23rd overall picks, the Patriots may wind up building their team successfully despite missing out on Daniels, Maye, or McCarthy at No. 3. We've hardly talked about McCarthy, who is slightly behind Daniels at +450 odds to be selected with the third overall draft pick.

Maye and Vikings offensive assistant, Josh McCown, have spent time working together during Maye's high school tenure in North Carolina before he went on to be a star at UNC. This correlation could result in Maye being drafted third overall to Minnesota, further solidifying his -145 odds to be selected third on Thursday night.

Daniels and Maye are the next two quarterbacks in line after Williams to be taken, however, McCarthy, who just won a National Championship at the University of Michigan, has been one of the biggest risers during the draft process. These three have plenty of suitors, so if Washington opts to throw a curve ball by passing on Daniels at No. 2, we could see chaos and a lot of profit from placing NFL Draft futures tickets on Daniels to be drafted third overall at +400 odds.
