NFL MVP Odds: Bettors Backing CJ Stroud to Win NFL MVP This Season
After the conclusion of the NFL Draft, we know have a good idea about how each roster will shape up.
From the looks of things, CJ Stroud is the most popular bet for this year's NFL MVP. It makes sense. Stroud took the league by storm, quarterbacking the Texans into the NFL Playoffs after throwing for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns.
Stroud played well enough to win the AFC Rookie of the Year and even got invited to the Pro Bowl. Despite many injuries at wide receiver throughout the season, Stroud still put up tremendous numbers in his first season, throwing only five interceptions in his entire rookie season.

At +1000 odds, CJ Stroud has been the most bet player to win the NFL MVP this season. It's super early in the offseason, but bettors like the moves the Texans have made up to this point.
Houston added Joe Mixon at running back, Stefon Diggs and Robert Woods at wide receiver, and still has Tank Dell, Nico Collins, Noah Brown, John Metchie III, and Dalton Schultz on the roster from last season.
In addition, the Texans added a rookie right tackle in Blake Fisher and brought in Shaq Mason from Tampa Bay to play right guard. In addition, Cade Stover was drafted out of Ohio State to be the backup tight end for this offense.
With Bobby Slowik at offenisve coordinator, Stroud and the Texans seriously have an exciting roster of offensive talent that could help Stroud win the MVP.
Aaron Rodgers (13.25%)
The Jets weren't prepared for life without Aaron Rodgers last season, and it showed. But it's a new season this year, and the Jets have been more aggressive than ever on the offensive side of the ball this off-season.
To protect Rodgers, the Jets added Morgan Moses at right tackle and Tyron Smith at left tackle. Both veterans figure to be in starting roles early in the season. Eventually, Olu Fashanu will overtake them, as he was the Jets' first-round selection in this year's NFL Draft.
The Jets also added Malachi Corley in the second round. He figures to be a large part of the Jets' offense this season. He'll be part of an exciting wide receiver core with Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams, who came from the Los Angeles Chargers.
Plus, New York has plenty of exciting running backs that can play a major role in helping Rogers pile up the stats this season.
Jalen Hurts (9.64%)
Not much has changed with the Eagles' offense this season. They added Saquon Barkley at running back but didn't really make any other significant moves that would help Hurts perform better.
If anything, the Eagles lost Jason Kelce to retirement and he was a major portion of the tush-push.
9.64% of bets have been on Hurts to win the MVP. But there are likely better options, even at +2000 odds.
Patrick Mahomes (8.43%)
Yes, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl this year. However, the Chiefs were more inconsistent than in previous years during the regular season.
Nobody knows if Rashee Rice will play this year. However, the Chiefs still added Hollywood Brown from the Cardinals and drafted Xavier Worthy, a Texas product with a lot of speed.
Meanwhile, Travis Kelce is only getting older and had multiple games last season where he didn't produce much. I don't think we'll see Mahomes win another MVP in his career, but that won't stop him from dominating the playoffs. So, as the consensus favorite, I'd stay away. I'd rather bet him to win the Super Bowl MVP when the time comes.
Jordan Love (2.61%)
Jordan Love really broke out with the Green Bay Packers last season. He was second in the NFL in passing touchdowns and finished with a top-ten QBR of 62.1.
He also put up these numbers with Christian Watson out for a long portion of the season.
This season, the Packers added Josh Jacobs as running back and still have an exciting core of receivers between Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Bo Melton, and Dontayvion Wicks. Because of this core, the Packers didn't add any wide receiver talent in the offseason. They're rolling with this bunch.
While it's a fun wide receiver group, typically, a quarterback that wins the MVP award has his favorite target that goes off every game. Who on the Packers will be consistent enough? I don't think anyone will be.
