Derek Carr Next Team Odds: Saints, Jets Separating From the Pack

Derek Carr was released by Las Vegas and is free to choose his next team and negotiate his next contract. With a handful of teams that are in need of a veteran signal-caller, Carr should be in good hands no matter where he ends up. The sportsbooks seem to believe there are four realistic places for Derek to go. Let's break down Derek Carr's next team odds.

It's no surprise to see that oddsmakers feel extremely confident about Carr landing at one of the first four teams. The Saints, who have recently jumped the Jets, are in desperate need of a QB. With New Orleans picking the No. 29th pick during the 2023 Draft, a veteran quarterback will be their only option. The Saints sit at +300 odds, implying a 25% chance he'll end up in Nola.

The Jets, who are neck-and-neck in oddsmakers' eyes, are sitting at +330 odds. After one of their roughest seasons QB-wise, New York needs to figure out a new plan under center. The Jets' new passing-game coordinator, Todd Downing, has a great relationship with Carr as he was his QB coach and offensive coordinator with the Raiders in 2016.

After Tom Brady announced his retirement a few weeks ago, the Bucs have been searching for their new signal-caller. Will it be Carr? Sportsbooks are giving Tampa Bay +450 odds, or an 18.2% chance to land the veteran.

The Carolina Panthers are another realistic option for Derek to head to. Carolina was all over the place last year when it came to the quarterback. Between injuries, poor performance, and trades, the Panthers struggled to maintain a consistent QB. While the Panthers could opt to resign Sam Darnold, adding a veteran quarterback might be the change Carolina is desperately needing. At +500 odds, they are another realistic choice for Carr.
