2022 NFL Free Agents: Ideal Landing Spots for the 15 Best Remaining NFL Free Agents

As training camp approaches, teams will continue to monitor the free-agent market to address injuries, talent gaps, and depth. Here is a breakdown of the best teams for the top 15 available free agents to join in 2022.

2022 NFL Free Agents Landing Spots

JULIO JONES, WR: IND, CAR, DAL

Julio Jones is only three years removed from posting a 99-1,394-6 stat line during his 2019 season with the Falcons. Reuniting with Matt Ryan in Indianapolis makes a lot of sense, as the Colts need a strong WR2 with an All-Pro pedigree. Carolina and Dallas could also sign the veteran wideout to strengthen their underwhelming depth.

JIMMY GRAHAM, TE: NO, TB, HOU

Jimmy Graham may be five years removed from his last Pro-Bowl season, but the 6-7, the 260-pound tight end remains a reliable asset in offensive gameplans. He only caught 14 receptions for 167 yards but finished with three touchdowns in Chicago last season. Teams like the Saints, Buccaneers, and Texans would benefit from signing the veteran tight end.

LANDON COLLINS, FS: GB, MIA

The NFC East has been Landon Collins' home for all seven years in the league, but he would be a great addition to teams with secondary weaknesses such as Green Bay and Miami. Collins recorded 81 tackles, seven TFLs, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles in 13 starts for Washington in 2021. He's also versatile enough to alternate between free safety and strong safety.

WILL FULLER V, WR: GB, NYG, CLE

Durability and availability have kept Will Fuller on the free-agent market for a long time, but he will soon be fielding calls from front offices who need to bolster their wide receiving corps. Fuller's top-end speed and soft hands make him an ideal pairing with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, while he would also help stretch the field for Cleveland and the New York Giants.

DEVONTAE BOOKER, RB: ATL, CIN, NE

Heading into his seventh year in the league, Devontae Booker was a quality running back for the Giants when called upon last season. He started four games but finished with 593 rushing yards and added another 40 receptions for 268 receiving yards, showcasing his versatility out of the backfield. Booker is a hard runner with good vision, making him a quality RB2 in Atlanta, Cincinnati, or New England.

T.Y. HILTON, WR: BAL, CAR, NE, CHI

Veteran wide receiver T.Y. Hilton will be a nice WR2 or WR3 presence on a roster that needs his explosiveness and speed. The 32-year-old has played his entire career in Indianapolis but was linked to Baltimore last offseason, so he could join forces with Lamar Jackson in 2022 to provide additional help. Carolina, New England, and Chicago could also benefit from signing Hilton to lean on his experience to help sustain drives and finish in the red zone.

ERIC EBRON, TE: TB, CAR, DEN

Ebron lost snaps to rookie Pat Freiermuth in 2021 during his second year in Pittsburgh to eliminate his role as a contributor within the offense. However, he has the size at 6-4, 253-pounds, and experience to be an asset as a strong TE2 for Tampa Bay, Carolina, or Denver. All three of these offenses have notable weaknesses at tight end, so perhaps Ebron could wind up with over 500 receiving yards as he did with Ben Roethlisberger in 2020.

EMMANUEL SANDERS, WR: HOU, TEN, ARI

Emmanuel Sanders has shuffled teams since leaving Denver mid-way through the 2019 season, enjoying his best production as a member of the New Orleans Saints with 61 receptions for 726 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He was good in spurts with Josh Allen and can slot in as a safe WR3 in offenses such as Houston, Tennessee, and Arizona.

JOE HADEN, CB: HOU, JAC, NYG

12 years in the AFC North and two separate stints as a Pro-Bowl nominee make cornerback Joe Haden an enticing prospect in free agency. Haden started 11 games in 2021 and finished with 38 tackles, six pass deflections, and one forced fumble. However, his lack of interceptions should not be alarming, as the 32-year-old veteran can still patch a hole in a secondary in places like Houston, Jacksonville, and the New York Giants.

COLE BEASLEY, WR: IND, TB, WAS

Slot receivers are always sought out, so a player with the talent Cole Beasley possesses will quickly be signed by a team who needs to bolster their wide receiving depth. Beasley only had one touchdown last season but saw over 100 targets in all three seasons with Josh Allen, boasting a 73 percent or higher catch rate percentage. His sure hands and fluid running would benefit Indianapolis, Tampa Bay, and Washington teams.

BLAKE JARWIN, TE: TB, CAR, HOU

Blake Jarwin was the favorite to emerge as the TE1 in Dallas, but an injury during the first game in 2020 derailed his trajectory. Dalton Schultz absorbed the vast majority of snaps and targets in 2021, but Jarwin is an intriguing tight end prospect for teams to invest in due to the lack of wear and tear. Jarwin would be a great fit with the Bucs, Panthers, or Texans to vie for the TE1 role.

XAVIER RHODES, CB: CIN, CHI, DAL

Xavier Rhodes did not produce in Indianapolis at the level he displayed during his tenure in Minnesota. The 32-year-old cornerback finished with 32 tackles, one TFL, seven pass deflections, and an interception last season with the Colts. Cincinnati, Chicago, and Dallas need a slot or nickel cornerback with the physicality and awareness Rhodes possesses.

ODELL BECKHAM JR., WR: LAR, DAL, TB

Odell Beckham Jr. revived his career in Los Angeles en route to a Super Bowl victory. The wideout delivered five touchdowns in just eight games with Matthew Stafford, adding another two scores during the postseason. The Rams could re-sign OBJ, but he's a quality WR2 for other contending rosters like Tampa Bay and Dallas.

CARLOS DUNLAP, DE: JAC, MIN

Carlos Dunlap is 32 years old but has a high motor and supreme strength, finishing 2021 with 8.5 sacks. The veteran edge rusher was traded from the Bengals in 2020 and sustained solid production with the Seahawks, creating a market to enlist his ability to pressure opposing quarterbacks. Jacksonville and Minnesota need an upgrade at edge rusher, so signing Dunlap would be a nice upgrade.

DAVID JOHNSON, RB: ARI, PHI, PIT

After a visit to New Orleans didn't result in a signing, 30-year-old running back David Johnson remains available on the free-agent market. Johnson has only rattled off two seasons above 900 rushing yards in his seven-year career during his time in Arizona, looking much less agile and robust in Houston. Plenty of teams could use an RB3 with RB2 upside, including his former team in the desert, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh.
