Pittsburgh Steelers’ unbeaten season continued as they hit 10-0 by sweeping aside Jacksonville Jaguars, but sportsbooks remain unconvinced that Mike Tomin’s side can go 16-0 in the regular season.

Currently, the odds of the Steelers having a perfect season ahead of the playoffs are set at +700. Quite simply, that means that a wager of $10 would net a profit of $70 if they manage to win all their remaining games, and carries and implied probability of just 12.5%.

The remaining teams that the Steelers have to face are quite a mixed bag, with very winnable games against the likes of Washington, Cincinnati and Cleveland, but some tougher matchups against Baltimore, Buffalo and Indianapolis.

The oddsmakers may not rate Pittsburgh chances of not losing a game quite poorly, but their Super Bowl chances have ticked higher and higher week on week. At the beginning of the season, Pittsburgh’s odds of winning the Super Bowl were set at +3000 – this placed them as 13th favorites and had an implied probability of just 3.23%.

However, as the graphic below demonstrates, the Steelers’ odds were lowered as they notched up win after win, and they now find themselves second-favorites behind only Kansas City. Their odds now read +600 which suggests a 14.29% chance.

OddsChecker spokesperson Pete Watt: “A chance to increase your wager seven-fold will be tempting to some more optimistic Steelers fans, given how well they have performed this season.”

“Interestingly, the sportsbooks seem to think it’s three times likelier that the Jets don’t win a game then it is that the Steelers don’t lose one!”
