Offensive Rookie of the Year Now A Three-Horse Race as Tua Surges

Since being named starting QB for Miami a month ago, Tagovailoa has closed the gap on Herbert and Burrow

Two has become three in the betting race to be named Offensive Rookie of the Year, with Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa now very much in contention to win the coveted award.

He has joined long-time leaders Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow – his counterparts on the Los Angeles Chargers and Cincinnati Bengals, respectively – at the top of the market and oddsmakers are finding it increasingly difficult to decide on a frontrunner.

As the graphic below shows, Burrow began the year as the heavy favorite in the market and his odds have remained relatively static.

Herbert and Tagovailoa, by comparison, have seen their prices fluctuate wildly over the course of the season with both starting the year on the bench for their respective teams.

Interestingly, despite him impressive performances for Miami in recent weeks, sports bettors seem yet to warm up to Tua; he accounts for just 4.27% of the total bets placed on the market, compared to 21.87% for Herbert and 26.93% for Burrow.
