Inter Milan vs. AC Milan Prediction

Inter Milan: On Fire

Inter took a huge step last week, beating AC Milan 2-0 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final doubleheader, and they will be expected to complete the job in midweek against bitter rivals AC Milan. The Nerazzurri will probably feel they could have done better as they opened up a 2-0 lead inside 11 minutes and continued to press high and create many scoring opportunities.

Moreover, they are in great form at the moment. In fact, they won their last seven games across all competitions. The hosts have already beaten their city rivals three times this term in Serie A, Champions League, and Italian Cup and could make it four in a row for the first time since 1973/74.

Barcelona is the only team in Champions League history to win a semi-final first leg by two plus goals and not progress to the final, and we don’t expect that to repeat here. They have a chance to reach the final for the first time since 2010, and they are huge favorites to advance, being priced at -2500 to reach the final.

Inter netted 17 goals from their last five fixtures combined. They also scored three or more goals in three of their past four appearances in front of their fans. Inter hasn’t been behind at any point in the knockout stages of this season’s Champions League and has kept four clean sheets from five games. Milan Skriniar will definitely miss out due to injury, while Joaquin Correa picked up a knock on Saturday and is doubtful for this clash.

AC Milan: Out of Form

It's been a nightmare week for AC Milan, whose Champions League hopes for next season then took a serious hit when they went they lost 2-0 to Spezia on the road. AC Milan is in the midst of a slump at the moment and is in desperate need of an immediate resurgence, and they need a miracle in order to qualify.

It is very possible that the semi-finalist of the Champions League will not play in this competition next season. They are sitting fifth in the Serie A standings, four points behind Lazio, with three rounds to go till the end of the season. They won just three of their previous 15 games across all competitions. Their European record as the away side is very poor, having won just one of their last 16 games on the road in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

AC Milan superstar Rafael Leao is pushing to be fit to play, but he’s not fully fit. Leao has proven to be the difference-maker for the visitors. This has particularly been the case across the past two seasons, and Stefano Pioli’s men were very much second-best throughout last week’s clash without him. Pioli will definitely be tempted to throw him in the battle, but the bad news from the first leg is that Algerian midfielder Ismael Bennacer got injured and will miss this clash.

Inter Milan vs. AC Milan Picks

The Rossoneri will have no choice other than to go all in on Tuesday, and the fans are expecting a better display than they managed in the first leg. The hosts have enough attacking firepower and pace and are playing with enough confidence to win also the second leg. AC Milan will try to attack from the first minute of the match, and this should work in Inter’s favor as they are deadly on the break. We’re expecting a high-scoring affair with at least three goals on the scoresheet.
