AC Milan vs. Inter Milan Prediction

AC Milan: Injury Issues

The Rossoneri qualified in their seventh Champions League semi-final but just the first since the 2006/07 campaign. They’ve lost the first leg in each of their last two, against Barcelona and Man United, although they did manage to come back and progress to the final in the most recent.

Since destroying Napoli 4-0 in Serie A back in April, AC Milan hasn’t lost a game and upheld that streak at the weekend by beating Lazio 2-0 in front of their fans. But they’ve not been blowing teams away, contributing on the scoresheet just eight goals in those seven fixtures.

The hosts have only conceded one goal in their last six matches in the Champions League. The Rossoneri have lost only twice in their last 17 matches, going nine games without defeat. There are a few injury worries ahead of this Milan Champions League Derby. On the hosting side, Rafael Leao, who has had some great form, is doubtful.

He was spotted training on the pitch at Milanello on Tuesday, just over 24 hours before kick-off. However, the Portuguese international was not involved with the rest of the first-team squad and continued working on individual training. With such a short space to recover from his injury setback, it is expected that any potential involvement from the Portuguese international will likely be from the bench.

Inter Milan: Attacking Firepower

Inter has made the last four thanks to a straightforward win over Porto and then a 5-3 aggregate victory against Benfica. As well as reaching the Coppa Italia final, where they meet Fiorentina later this month, Inter qualified from a tough Champions League group also featuring Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Simone Inzaghi's side enters this clash in better form after five wins in a row across all competitions and has only conceded once in that run. Last weekend they managed to beat AS Roma 2-0 on the road, using Lautaro Martinez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan only for the last 30 minutes of the game.

They will be without Danilo D'Ambrosio, who is nursing a muscle injury, and there could be out for the remainder of the season. Milan Skriniar, who underwent back surgery, remained sidelined and is unlikely to return this season.

Inter Milan has shown marked improvement in recent weeks and will look to build on their recent stellar record in the Derby della Madonnina. They managed to beat AC Milan in their previous two mutual encounters across all competitions, keeping two clean sheets in the process.

AC Milan vs. Inter Milan Picks

Inter will start as favorites after winning their last five matches, four of them without conceding. They also have the upper hand on AC Milan after beating them two times this season. Lautaro Martínez has scored four goals across Inter’s last three games, and we expect him to extend his brilliant run of form.

AC Milan’s most important attacking player, Rafa Leao, will definitely not recover in time to play from the first minute of the game, and that’s a huge blow for the hosts. Inter's depth and attacking firepower will be the key to this fixture, and we don’t expect them to lose this clash.
