Colorado Avalanche vs. Dallas Stars Prediction: Can Nathan MacKinnon, Avalanche Dominate in Game 1?

Back to the ice on this fine Tuesday night for some more second round action and I am double dipping here in this one. The Dallas Stars host the Colorado Avalanche for Game 1 of this potential seven game series at the American Airlines Center in the lodestar state and this series should be a great one.

Colorado Avalanche vs. Dallas Stars Game 1 Prediction

Could the Nathan MacKinnon and the Avalanche show some signs of rust here? Sure, but I don't think so. This Avalanche squad just absolutely throttled the best defensive team and the net minder that will probably win the Vezina Trophy. You could without question argue the fact that Dallas matches up better with Colorado but at the same time, Winnipeg swept Colorado in four games this regular season (which is very hard to do) before just getting smoked in five games dropping four straight conceding 28 goals (5.6 GPG) while doing so.

Don't get me wrong, Dallas handled a very talented Vegas squad well but Vegas struggled the entire second half of the season to be blunt. They had momentum entering the playoffs but I am not surprised Dallas and Jake Oettinger were able to keep them relatively quiet down the stretch in that series. Dallas will surely try to keep Colorado from running up the scoreboard here but I am just not capable if they are able to do so; the only way I see this game not at least pushing on this total is if they can keep Colorado quiet and rust from six days off keeps the boys from buzzing early. If they can't, they will have to meet the Avs at the track meet and attack the weak point of this Colorado team: Alexandar Georgiev.

Three notes here: Dallas home overs have ripped all season, they have hit in four straight head to head and Colorado has seen all five games so far this postseason hit at least six. I like the total. I also like the team scoring 5.6 GPG so far this postseason.
