Colorado Avalanche vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Prediction: Expect Goals in a Pivotal Game 4

Tampa Bay responded in a huge way after Game 2's 7-0 loss as they defeated the Avalanche 6-2 on Monday night, handing Colorado their first road loss of the playoffs. Tampa's top line made their presence felt as they registered 6 points. Steven Stamkos and Ondrej Palat each had a goal and an assist and Nikita Kucherov added 2 assists and 6 shots on goal.

Colorado Avalanche vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Prediction

Kuchervov was injured late in the game after a questionable hit by Devon Toews but he should be good to go in Game 4. Brayden Point, who missed Game 3 is unlikely to play tonight. Andrei Vasilevskiy bounced back with a 37 save performance while Darcy Kuemper was pulled after giving up 5 goals on 22 shots.

This series has seen its share of goals as each game has gone over the total of 6. 22 goals have been scored in total and I expect that trend to continue in Game 4. Despite only scoring 2 goals, the Avs were able to generate offense in Game 3. Colorado put 39 shots on net and had 16 high danger scoring chances. The Bolts themselves had 33 shots on goal and 15 high danger scoring chances. There were a total of 10 Power Plays in the game and 3 of them were converted for goals. With the speed of both teams and the developing bad blood we may see more Power play opportunities which would continue to help the Over.

I see the Over as the safest bet in this game as I expect more goal scoring from Colorado as they are averaging 4.8 goals per game and 3.2 goals against on the road, in the playoffs. The Lightning should continue to have success scoring goals on home ice, where they are averaging 3.9 goals per game in these playoffs. They are allowing only 2.0 goals per game at home but with this Avs offense being as dangerous as it is, I see at least 6 goals in this game.
