Colorado Avalanche vs Tampa Bay Lightning Prediction: Can the Lightning and Brayden Point Bounce Back?

The Colorado Avalanche took a 1-0 series lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning thanks to an Andre Burakovsky goal just 1:23 into overtime to seal the victory. Colorado took a 3-1 first-period lead after a couple of uncharacteristically soft goals by Vasilevskiy. Tampa battled back to tie the game at 3 with two quick goals in the second and the game stayed tied into overtime. Here is my prediction, pick, and odds for Game 2 between Avalanche vs Lightning.

Avalanche vs. Lightning Game 2 Prediction

Tampa Bay, and Andrei Vasilevskiy in particular, settled in after that first period. Vasy made 22 saves in the second and third and the Bolts were able to hold the Avs scoreless into the overtime session. This was more of a telling sign to me than the Avs winning the game.

Including this series, Tampa has now faced three of the top four offenses in the league this season. They outlasted the Maple Leafs in round 1, especially as the series went on, and just dominated the Panthers in the second round. Those feats can be attributed to Andrei Vasilevskiy for sure but the Bolts, as a team, know how to slow teams down and clog up the neutral zone, which is what we saw after the first period in Game 1. I still think the value is on Tampa Bay in this game as I am expecting a sharper Andrei Vasilevskiy tonight.

Tampa Bay got a major boost in Game 1 with the return of Brayden Point. Point was injured early in Game 7 of the first round and is a major part of this team as he adds much-needed depth that the Bolts are going to need if they want to win this series. Point played 18 minutes in Game 1 and kick-started Tampa's comeback with a nice assist on Nick Paul's goal in the second period.

I see value in another assist in this game for Point. He should get more time on ice and I would not be surprised to see him on the top line at times, especially if Tampa Bay is trailing. Point does play the bumper spot on the Power Play, which went 0-3 in Game 1, that should be crisper in Game 2.
