The Colorado Avalanche look to complete the sweep of the Edmonton Oilers as the two teams meet in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals tonight, in Edmonton. The Avs are looking to advance to their first Stanley Cup Final since 2001 but will have to do it without an important part of their lineup. Nazem Kadri was injured in the first period of Game 1 after a questionable hit by Evander Kane. Kadri has been ruled out of the remainder of this series and his season could be done. Kadri has 6 goals and 8 assists during the playoffs and had a fantastic year overall. Kane will miss this contest as he was suspended 1 game for the hit. The Oilers will undoubtedly miss his production as he was tied for 2nd in the league with 15 playoff goals.
Aside from Game 1, Edmonton's offense has not been able to do much. The Avs have held the Oilers to an average of 30 shots per game but Edmonton has not seen that mark over the last 2 games. The time is now for McDavid and the Oilers, Edmonton will not be able to shut down the Avs so they are going to need to push the pace in this game. Pavel Francouz has been good in net for Colorado but I believe the Oilers offense can reach another gear. Mike Smith has struggled in the conference finals as he has a 5.39 goals-against average and a .879 save percentage so Edmonton will not be able to afford to sit back. There also could be some bad blood between the teams after Game 3, which could lead to more Power Plays.
Non-Game 7 elimination game Overs are 10-3-1 during these playoffs, averaging 6.8 goals per game. If the Avalanche are leading, expect the Oilers to pull Smith earlier than usual as they are in a do-or-die situation. Conversely, if Edmonton is going to win this game, it's not going to be low-scoring. I think the Over is the best option for Game 4
