ANALYSIS

St. Louis Blues vs Colorado Avalanche Prediction: Can the Blues Win Game 3 at Home?

St. Louis is coming off their best game of the season in a Game 2, 4-1 win at Colorado on Thursday night. David Perron led the way with two goals, including the eventual game winner and Jordan Binnington continued his resurgence with a spectacular 30 save performance in the much-needed win. Let's dive into my prediction, pick, and the odds for Game 3 between the St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche.

St. Louis Blues vs. Colorado Avalanche Game 3 Line Movement

St. Louis Blues vs. Colorado Avalanche Game 3 Prediction

After getting vastly outplayed in Game 1, Coach Craig Berube instituted a very effective game plan, clogging up the neutral zone which allowed the Blues to control play. Shots were much closer in this game as the Blues had a 32-31 advantage after getting out-shot 53-25 in Game 1. The Blues also dominated play five-on-five as they had an expected goals count of 2.17 to Colorado's 0.88.

Colorado's playoff struggles of recent years have been well documented, they took a 2-0 series lead in the 2nd round last season then dropped four straight, losing the series to Vegas in 6 games, doubt could creep in after Game 2's loss. I love the way the Blues played on Thursday night and I don't trust Jared Bednar to be able to make the adjustments.

The value in this game lies with the Blues. They have the coaching advantage, they can roll four lines and Jordan Binnigton is on absolute fire right now. Binner is 4-1 in the playoffs with 1.75 goals against average and a .948 Save percentage. The Blues also have scored the second most Power play goals in the playoffs. Their 10 PPGs are second to only Tampa Bay. The Blues have also scored a Power Play goal in every playoff game thus far.  The Blues have been a great home team all season as they had a record of 28-11-5 at Enterprise Center, which will be rocking today. I can't justify laying the juice on the Avalanche as I have seen them melt down time and time again in the playoffs. I am going with the value and taking the home team to take a 2-1 series lead.
