NHL Wednesday's Best Bets: Columbus Blue Jackets vs Montreal Canadiens and Flyers vs Rangers

This one will be determined by pace early as they usually are; you are all aware I approach games from multiple angles and there is never just one factor determining how I make my wagers. Some of the key things I like to dive into when attacking totals like I love to do rely on the pace of play, matchup history, recent form, and not necessarily trends but consistency to either do or not do certain things.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs Montreal Canadiens Prediction

Tonight is one of those games where those factors play into my ride quite a bit here and I think this one will be determined by the pace of the game in the first 20-25 minutes as they usually are. That goes for most totals, the pace early is important to hitting them; teams that score early tend to open up the game, pash is pushed both ways, it just opens things up.

Behind just Minnesota and Florida, Columbus has hit the hit 1P o1.5’s 49/71 games this season hitting over 67% of the time and at home, the split improves to 25-9-3. They are also the second-best GIFT team in the league at a tad over 67% on the season. Montreal is both 7-3 L10 1p o1.5’s and GIFTS; even better they 5- L5 1P o1.5’s on the road.

On the season they rank second and third-worst in the league for GA/G both over 3.70; neither netminder is all that impressive, Merzlekins is definitely better but with that pace, this one will be played at and recent form all around I easily see them both giving up a few if this one gets going strong. They both are averaging over 3.00 GF/G post-All-Star break.

I like the line at o6.5 here enough to play it but I like these alternate looks on this one as well because of my pace theory and I love the value in playing it this way. If it gets going early I think we cruise.

Philadelphia Flyers vs New York Rangers Prediction

This one lies around netminders so I will keep it very brief. This is the second day of a back-to-back for New York and Igor played last night so I assume he will be out. If Alexander Georgiev is in net I love this total at 5.5 or 6 easily; with Igor in net, I feel differently as he allowed four last night, and could see him hungry for a strong game here.

Just check as often as you can, if it's AG I think this one is wide open and New York runs up the total as they look to keep pushing for that division title. If it’s Igor they might grab a few and sit on their lead so here is how I am waiting to play this one.
