ANALYSIS

Nashville Predators vs San Jose Sharks Prediction: Can the Predators End Their Skid?

Nashville is coming off back-to-back losses over the weekend, 4-1 at home to Florida and 3-2, in a shootout, at Pittsburgh. The Preds are clinging to the top Wild Card Spot in the West, with a 1 point lead on Dallas and a 3 point lead on the surging Golden Knights. Nashville has Edmonton, St.Louis, and Calgary on this homestand, so getting off to a good start is imperative. The San Jose Sharks have had a rough season, they played very well until the All-Star break but have spiraled since then, The Sharks are losers of 6 in a row and 7 of their last 8. Most recently, they dropped a 4-2 decision to the Canucks in Vancouver on Saturday night.

Nashville Predators vs San Jose Sharks Prediction

At home, this season, where Nashville has a record of 22-12, the Preds average 3.21 goals per game, and their Power Play is 11th at 23.6%. Nashville is allowing 2.50 goals per game and their Penalty Kill is 13th, at home, at 82%. Five on five at home, the Preds are 24th in goals and 1st in goals against. Interestingly, the Preds are last in high danger chances at home (yet average 3.21 goals per game) but they are also first in high danger chances allowed so the Preds don't give teams much breathing room on home ice. Jusse Saros is projected to start in net tonight, Saros is having a fine season as he sports a 2.55 GAA along with a .921 Save percentage.

On the road, this season, where the Sharks are 13-17-4, the Sharks average 2.62 goals per game, and their Power Play is 19th at 18.1%. San Jose is allowing 3.09 goals per game and their Penalty Kill is a 2nd best 85.3 away from home. Five on Five, on the road, the Sharks are 27 in goals and 17th on goals allowed. The Sharks do a good job at generating chances as they are 9th in high danger chances for but they are 21st in high danger chances allowed. Kaapo Kahkonen started in goal on Saturday so we could see James Reimer tonight. Reimer has been the better of the two.

Bet up to $1,000 RISK FREE on Predators vs Sharks with FanDuel This is the third meeting of the season, the Preds took both previous encounters, 3-1 at home in October and 8-0 in San Jose in early March. Nashville needs this win to keep pace in the playoff race, going on prolonged losing streaks is not ideal this time of year. The Preds are a veteran team and should be ready tonight, I like them to win in regulation.
