Calgary Flames vs Seattle Kraken Prediction: Can the Flames Stay Hot?

On Saturday the Calgary Flames beat Seattle on their home ice by a score of 4-1 and tonight are looking to end the season series with their fifth straight win over the Kraken to finish 5-1 against them on the year. Calgary has been excellent all season but since the calendar said twenty-two they have been one of the if not the, most dominant squads in hockey.

Since the All-Star break, they are netting a league fourth-best 3.91 GF/G a game while conceding at the third-lowest rate with just a 2.42 GAA. Seattle is netting a league second-lowest 2.46 GF/G while conceding 3.51 GPG. Their netminder tonight is their backup, Chris Dreidger; he is 7-11-1 on the season with a 3.05 GAA, sub .900 save percentage, and 0 shutouts this season.

Let’s put that in perspective.

Jacob Markstrom, per usual, will be between the pipes for Calgary; he is 34-14-8 with a 2.16 GAA, .925 save percentage, and league-leading nine shutouts this season. He has been a huge piece of their success but the play in front of him provides so much support. They are incredibly sound on the back end and the pressure and pace at which they dominate the game offensively leaves him without much work to do some nights.

Calgary is the best team in the division and Seattle is the worst; they were stripped before the break and although playing for their ride and roster positions they are playing for nothing else here. Calgary is easily going to have a solid seed in the playoffs but they do not care; they are stat padding. They play relentless hockey and want to play the best hockey that they possibly can going into the dance.

They have been making a statement: we are here to win. I think they further that here tonight and roll past Seattle.
