Montreal Canadiens vs New Jersey Devils Prediction: Underdog Canadiens Look for Road Win

The Canadiens are off a 6-3 home loss to the Ottawa Senators. The Habs are playing out the season under interim coach Martin St. Louis and they have been playing very well. Montreal is 11-10-4 under the interim coach. Their offense has been the story as they are averaging 3.16 goals per game in the 25 games under their new coach, they averaged 1.62 goals per game in the 45 games prior, that's a ridiculous turnaround. Youngster Cole Caufield has benefited the most as he has scored 15 goals and added 12 assists, for 27 points.

The New Jersey Devils, also have been a very exciting offensive team this season. That took a major hit on Sunday as star forward Jack Hughes went down with yet another injury. The Devils have shut Hughes down for the season, which is a major blow to this offense. The Devils are coming off a 3-1 loss to the Rangers, at home, on Tuesday night.

The Habs should be the more motivated team in this game and they have lost both meetings with New Jersey this season. The Devils handed them a 7-1 home loss in February, which resulted in the coaching change, and New Jersey defeated the Habs 3-2 in a shootout, in New Jersey, a few weeks ago.

At home this season, the Devils are allowing 3.25 goals per game and they are averaging 3.14 goals per game. Their home Power Play is 15th and their home Penalty Kill is 16th. The Devils have allowed the 5th most five on five goals at home and are 14th in goals scored. This can be attributed to their poor goaltending as they have a combined .882 save percentage this season.

I mentioned Montreal's goal-scoring under St. Louis, they have scored 3 or more goals in 19 of the 25 goals and have gone over 3 goals in 10 of those games. I think Montreal will be the more motivated team tonight and can't pass up this value. Hopefully, Jake Allen goes in net but will take these bets regardless.
