St. Louis Blues vs Seattle Kraken Prediction: Keep Backing the Blues

My golden boys.

What a run the St. Louis Blues have been on this last week, and we have gladly been along for the ride cashing in on them in their last five straight.

They are sitting in the third seed for the central division trailing Minnesota by just three after the boys from St. Paul dropped their game to Nashville last night. With a win, St. Louis can jump from 88 points to 90 and will be trailing Minnesota by just one.

Minnesota will be in St. Louis on Friday; with a win tonight, that game Friday can be the opportunity the Blues have fought for to get their spot back. They are a team that plays exceptionally well when they are on runs and have the proper motivation and it is all there right now right in front of them.

St. Louis Blues vs Seattle Kraken Prediction

The Seattle Kraken are dead last in the Pacific Division and just one point ahead of the Arizona Coyotes who are dead last In the entire Western Conference. They sit 32 points out of playoff contention and have a zero percent chance of making the playoffs this season. They moved six of their starters before the deadline and are playing for their paychecks and pride at this point.

These guys are all professional hockey players; on any night any given team can win a tilt without question and I would never say otherwise, it happens all the time. However, by this time of the season, we have a lot of data to back our reads and know-how teams are playing on certain splits, who is playing well, etc.

Seattle is 10-23 (3-7 L10) and sporting a 3.61 GAA on the road this season; tonight they send out backup netminder Chris Driedger who is 7-10-1 with a 3.05 GAA and sub .900 save percentage.

The St. Louis Blues are a damn good hockey team.

They have the league's forth best 435 assists on the season and have scored the fifth-most goals with 248 for a 3.58 GF/G. Since the all-star break, they are sporting a 3.88 GF/G. Seven guys on the roster have scored twenty or more goals this season and they might have nine by the end of the season; they cycle and move the puck really well and no one on that team is selfish.

To be honest it has honestly hurt them from time to time when we have seen them look too much or for too long but that has been much less of an issue this season and especially as of late.

Ville Husso has been playing well this year and despite some recent regression in a spot or two I still do not doubt his play between the pipes, especially against Seattle on the road here where they are netting just 2.62 GF/G. St. Louis has a 2.66 GAA at home this season; Ville has been exceptional at home with a 1.95 GAA and a .936 save percentage.

They have recorded a point in five straight and love to play on home Ice where they are 23-12 this season and 57-27-14 across the last three seasons. That game against Minnesota can hurt if they don’t take care of business in this one. Expect the Blue notes to handle this one again in the Lou tonight.
