JT Miller is back looking at the St. Louis Blues vs. Calgary Flames matchup. He's expecting goals, and lots of them.
ANALYSIS

St. Louis Blues vs Calgary Flames Prediction: Expect the Goals to Flow Early and Often

Tonight, St. Louis continues their road trip up north as they head to Calgary to take on the Flames and I believe we are in for another light show here tonight. I am not going to overanalyze or build a big narrative here like I tend to at times because the narrative is much like that of a few other games we have been on this week. Just like the Pittsburgh vs Minnesota and Carolina vs Tampa Bay games earlier this week, this one has all the potential in the world to go over but could easily go under and I would not be surprised.

St. Louis Blues vs Calgary Flames Prediction

Tonight I believe they light the lamp. The last two times these squads met in Calgary it was a barnburner and both meetings this season so far have been one-sided affairs; a 7-1 victory for Calgary at home and a 5-1 victory at home for the notes. This is their final clash of the season and although the path may have to be perfect these two squads can see each other again later in the season if the playoff picture plays out right.

As I said in my first article however, the playoffs do not matter tonight. St. Louis is fighting to regain their previous position in the standings; they picked up four points in two solid wins over Vancouver to start the week and lost a slugfest last night in Edmonton. Jordan Binnington looked awful and gave up four goals in the first eighteen minutes before being replaced by the team's number one goalie in Ville Husso.

Normally a Husso vs Markstrom matchup would keep me on my toes here and as I said earlier, one or both of these guys can show out here tonight and ruin the fun but I do not see it happening. Ville is good but has been playing a lot of hockey and traveling; he should show some signs of wear here tonight and Calgary’s relentless offensive pressure will put the pressure on.

St. Louis is hungrier for points and I could see them sneaking away with the win here tonight over a Calgary team that has been lacking but either way, I see expect both of these two squads to light the lamp tonight.
