Tonight, the St. Louis Blues are heading to Edmonton to do battle with the Oilers as they continue their final road trip to take on teams north of the border this season.

St. Louis Blues vs Edmonton Oilers Prediction

Both teams are going with their backup netminders tonight which is why I love this total even more than I normally would have. Mikko and Ville in net give this game a different outlook but with Mike Smith and Jordan Binnington in net, that outlook is even more appealing. Jordan Binnington is 13/13/4 with a 3.14 GAA this season but has been much worse in the second half of this 21-22 campaign. Since January 1st he is just 4-7-1 with a 3.58 and in that time lost his starting role to Ville Husso.

Mike Smith is 7-9-2 this season with a sub .900 save percentage and a 3.41 GAA.

Just like I said in the PITT/MIN game last night netminders matter, especially good ones, however in the grand scheme of things good offense will win out over good defense/goaltending. That is not an opinion it is a fact; these teams both move the puck so well and create an incredible amount of high-quality looks or HDCF (high danger chances for) every night they take the ice.

You all know how I feel about the Blues and whether you agree or not you cannot deny it. March was a wash for them but outside of about ten games there, they are an excellent squad with a lot of talent on both ends of the ice. They can score in bunches and have done so for us twice this week on the two plays ML plays we cashed. As I said in those articles, they know it is time for business and they need points, especially on an evening like tonight when Nashville plays as well and Minnesota just lost last evening.

I am not saying they will win this one but I do believe they do their part for the total and Edmonton will do the rest. I said it last week but McDavid, Draisitili, and Co. are red hot and torching teams as of late. I love them to do great things anytime they are on the ice and think they will tonight.

Light the lamp.
