Arizona Coyotes vs Montreal Canadiens Prediction: Trust the Desert Dogs

Well guys it is a travel day for me but I stopped along the way to make sure I got some plays out for y’all on this beautiful slate; it just has too much potential. Let’s get after it.

Arizona Coyotes vs Montreal Canadiens Prediction

Now I locked in the majority of my action this one last night and it is one of my favorite games on the slate tonight. Both these clubs are bottom feeders and have no hopes or aspirations in regard to a playoff run this year however despite that they are playing good hockey. Great by their standards.

Arizona won five of their first six games to start the season and carried that momentum right into an impressive run in which they lost 23 of their next 28 games.

Brutal.

As of late, however, they are actually playing rather well and have been burying the biscuit as of late and have cashed their team total in seven of their last ten tilts. Their long-term numbers and stats are really irrelevant to the way they have been playing lately and can be deceiving. They are averaging just 2.58 GF/G in all situations (home and away) this season but have done so much more as of late.

Since February began, they have played 14 games and are sporting a 4.14 GF/G average, but March has been absurd; they are netting 5.8 GPG across their last five games. Will that regress at some point? Of course, but I don’t mind, I care about what they are doing right now. They are red hot and playing with confidence; tonight is an excellent opportunity to keep it going.

Montreal on the other hand started off the season an abysmal 8-28 before firing their previous head coach and giving the reigns to now interim head coach and former Bolts star Martin St. Louis. I love the way they are playing with him in the drivers seat and it appears he knows what they are doing.

In 14 games they have doubled their season win total and are 8-3 across their last 11 contests knocking off multiple Stanley Cup Contenders. I have said it before and I will say it again, the Habs simply do not possess the talent to lock things down on the back end. They lack a real, true #1 netminder and the defensive woes have continued all season; tonight they sit who is probably the best back end player they have, Ben Chiariot. They anticipate he will be moved before the deadline.

There is nothing the Habs can do this year to improve the squad they have on the ice currently and upgrade in those spots, this is a lost season. Nonetheless, it is the beginning of what I am hoping to be the St. Louis era in Montreal and they are going to keep getting out there to try and win hockey games.

He is letting his young guys get out there and Suzuki and Caufield have shined under the new more offensive-oriented philosophy to their game. it is pretty simple; they score the least in the league (2.59 GF/G) but give up the most goals (3.78 GF/G). If you cannot stop giving up goals, you must score more to win. They have covered their team total in 9 of their last ten games.

I think this one is going to turn into a barnburner and either side can take it when two low-tier squads match up but I see the edge with Arizona see a lot of value in backing them as a dog that will put up goals in this one.

As always, best of luck to all who tail!
