Ottawa Senators vs. Arizona Coyotes Prediction

This marks the second meeting of the season between the Ottawa Senators and Arizona Coyotes. These teams met in Arizona on March 5th, which resulted in a wild 8-5 Coyotes win. The Coyotes are currently in the 4th game of a 5 game road trip. The Yotes are 2-1 so far, having picked up impressive wins over Detroit and Toronto by a combined score of 14-6. Arizona lost their last game, 3-2 to the Bruins, but also lost star defenseman Jakob Chychrun to a lower-body injury. Forward Nick Schmatlz has been on a tear as he’s recorded 14 points over his last 5 games.

The Senators are in the middle of a 5 game homestand. Ottawa is off a 6-3 loss to Chicago on Saturday night, a game that saw the Sens relinquish a 2-0 lead after the first period. The Senators are led by captain Brady Tkachuk, who has 20 goals and 22 assists, for a team-leading 42 points.

These are two teams that are towards the bottom of the league. Both have been scoring above their season pace over the last handful of games. Arizona has scored 24 goals over their past four games and Ottawa has scored 17 over their last 5. On the season, The Coyotes average 2.50 goals per game on the road and have the second-worst road power play at 13.2%. The Yotes also have the 2nd fewest expected goals on the season in five in five situations.

The Senators are only averaging 2.53 goals per game at home and have the 12th worst home power play at 19.6%. Ottawa also has the 5th least expected goals this season in five on five situations.

I don’t see the Coyotes keeping their scoring pace up and I like the Senators, who are coming off a bad home loss, to get a bit of revenge tonight over the Yotes. I see a lower scoring game and like the value of this win/total combo.
