To get our day started we are diving into tonight’s clash between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Florida Panthers. I usually write my articles later in the day but the lines on this one have been steaming since they opened and I assume they will continue to as the day goes on so I wanted to get this out early.
The Florida Panthers are undisputedly one of the top three teams in the NHL and they are absolutely lethal. Their offensive production this season is pretty much unparalleled and they only stand out more at home. They just dropped a shootout at home to Nashville that they were winning up until some events at the very end; they will be very motivated tonight.Â
Florida is scoring an absurd 4.7 GPG in their barn this season; they give up about 3 at home but that does not matter as much, it honestly just helps us. Florida’s philosophy is similar to Colorado’s: we will score more goals than you. That’s how they win, they push the pace and jump on teams early and have no problem whatsoever running up the scoreboard.Â

The most important thing for an over bettor is to find advantageous matchups; know what you are looking for, the spots with potential and what signals tell you that those results will occur. Scoring early opens up the game in so many ways and once the lamp goes off for the first time in this one, I do not see it stopping. No one scores early like these guys do.

Tonight, Columbus sends out backup netminder JF Berube to support their 3.84 GAA on the road, second-worst in the league. Columbus knows they are poor defensively and will not win that battle, so they push the pace and look to score. They are netting 3.16 GF/G on the road this season and with the pace, this game will be played at and the unimpressive form Bobrovsky is in, I can easily see CBJ burying a few biscuits here, somewhere in the 2-4 range.
The last two meetings this season ended 9-2 and 8-4; with the current form these squads are in, the narrative heading into the game and our signals there is no reason to believe something different will occur tonight.
