NHL Best Bet for Tuesday: Look For These Teams to get on the Board Early

Today is a great day.

The NHL slate is gorgeous, there are plenty of spots to attack and best of all: The Habs are not playing. They have now burned me twice on here in the last week and if they are not on the ice they cannot hurt us, we are safe from the torture.

They knocked off the Maple Leafs last night at home to win their third consecutive win and are now a dazzling 11-33-7 on the season.

That is a heavy dosage of sarcasm.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs St. Blues Prediction

Toronto (32-14-3) has now dropped back-to-back contests and are on a back-to-back here tonight. The St. Louis Blues knocking them off at home is not overly surprising; they were on a back-to-back and playing a highly motivated team who just lost to Montreal.

I spoke about it yesterday so I will not dive too deeply into this, but Toronto is in a dangerous spot in my opinion. They have been one of the league’s elite squads for years with exceptional talent, but they continue to underperform down the stretch.  They have been knocked out of the playoffs early the last five seasons straight and a lackluster close to the season will leave them vulnerable to do it again.

If Toronto wants to be taken seriously this season (and remain a team I am willing to put our money on) they get back on track here tonight. They dropped two points last night and if they do not go out hard tonight, they could go pointless across four games; they play Minnesota on Thursday.

They should be very motivated tonight and that makes this a very advantageous game for us to attack. I see goals.

Toronto is one of the most offensively dominant teams in the league and are netting 3.57 GF/G on the road this season while also sporting the best power play in the league. They also played piss poor defensively last night and I do not expect them to have figured that out yet.

Columbus is abysmal defensively, but they also play with great pace and we love them for it; they have made us a lot of money this season. At home this season they are conceding 3.42 GPG and netting 3.38 GF/F themselves.

This is not even my normal song and dance about expecting pace, I know there will be. I will never promise pucks find the back of the net, but I have a very good idea about the pace of play and offensive presence heading into a contest; this game lines up with a lot of my signals.

CBJ is 18/24 1P o1.5 at home this season and 9-1 across their L10; they are the second-best team in the league hitting over 67% this season overall. They are also the second-best GIFT (goal in first ten minutes) team in the league hitting in over 69% of their contests this season and head into this matchup 9-1 across their L10. The Maple Leafs also rank within the top ten for both categories; they are 8-2L10 1P o1.5’s and 9-1 L10 GIFT’s.

There are a few ways I am attacking this one but due to juice today we get creative. I have a second article coming covering another game I love but the whole slate is great, so I am sneaking a play in from another game here. As always best of luck to those who tail!
