Edmonton Oilers vs. Minnesota Wild Prediction: Betting on Goals in This Sunday Night Showdown

The second game we are diving into today also happens to be our last one of the week so let’s finish off a great week strong. The four best bets to hit are: the first of the week, the first of the day, the last of the week and last of the day. I love ending a week with a win and running momentum forward into Monday and we could not ask for a better late-night matchup to attack.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Minnesota Wild Prediction

I have spoken about the signals I look for when looking at games and have brought up many of the different ways I approach a game when looking for an angle. To be straightforward, this game falls into a lot of those categories for me and I cannot dive into them all So I’ll just touch on the keys.

The Minnesota Wild head to Edmonton tonight as they look to do battle with the Oilers and both squads are playing excellent hockey. They are among the elite tier when it comes to offensive prowess and both teams share a similar philosophy by which they try to win hockey games: they will score more goals than you.

It is their whole mantra; they both push the pace early and love to run up the scoreboard when given the opportunity and possess all the necessary tools to do so.

Minnesota has really turned it on in the back half of the season despite dropping a few games lately; unless a collapse is coming, I expect them to get back on track soon and they should be playing relentless hockey until they are back into form. The Wild are the 5th best scoring team in the NHL and are averaging 3.16 GF/G on the road this season.

Edmonton had a rough stretch mid-season after a hot start however that is now a thing of the past; they are 5-0 under new head coach Jay Woodcroft and playing like the team they are supposed to be. They are both putting up and conceding a bit more than 3 goals a game at home this season.

I have said it before and I will say it again; Connor McDavid and Leon Draisitl are two of the best players in the league and are the best players on the ice anytime they are on it. Their presence on the ice makes this squad lethal in many aspects of the game and they have their swagger back.

I expect to see them go out for a statement victory over a very good Minnesota squad and leave a message to the league: we’re back. I am not saying it will happen, but I am saying the motivation is very much prevalent for both clubs and it always is a bit more exciting when two top squads face off.

Both clubs are among the top four league leaders for hitting 1P o1.5’s; Edmonton is 8-2 across their L10 1P overs and Minnesota compliments that with a nice 7-3 L10 GIFT’s.

I am excited for this one and looking forward to a nice end to a great week with a lovely late-night barnburner. As always, best of luck to those who tail! We ride.
