What a run it’s been for NC State. They went from probably firing their head coach and rebuilding to winning the ACC Tournament and making it all the way to the Final Four. Will the Wolfpack’s legendary run continue against Purdue on Saturday, or will Zach Edey and the Boilermakers end their “Cinderella Story?” More importantly… which team will cover?

It’s been fun watching both DJ Horne and DJ Burns carry this team throughout March, but will they be able to get through Zach Edey? It’s starting to feel like Purdue’s year, and they have more talent than they’ve ever had before. Maybe it’s Purdue’s time to finally break the seal and win their first National Championship…
Zach Edey gets all the attention, and for some reason a lot of hate, but he’s not the only star on this Purdue team. They are loaded with talent in their backcourt with Braden Smith and Fletcher Loyer. Lance Jones, the senior transfer from Southern Illinois, has been the glue of this team. They have plenty of veteran leadership to go along with Edey. NC State is going to have their hands full defending not only the best big man in college basketball, but some of the best role players in the game as well.
NC State’s Final Four run has been impressive, but they have yet to face a dominant big man. Texas Tech, Oakland, Marquette and Duke have solid bigs, but nothing like the Wolfpack will have to face on Saturday. Edey is a whole different animal than what they’ve faced in prior rounds. Will Burns be able to keep up with Edey and compete on the offensive side of the ball? It’s going to take a miracle…
Everyone is rooting for the Wolfpack against Edey and the Boilermakers. NC State has become America’s team, and the general public is tired of watching Edey’s layups and free throws carry them to wins. This has led to the Wolfpack becoming a very public bet in this contest. More than 65% of the bets are currently backing NC State on the spread, and nearly 60% of the moneyline wagers are on the Wolfpack (per VSIN). With all that being said, the spread has barely moved. I wouldn’t want to have a wager on NC State considering how public they are tonight…
Fade the public and back Purdue to cover the spread and win this game by 10+ points. Zach Edey has made it very clear that he is putting the rest of the world on notice, silencing all the doubters on this run to the Final Four. Their work isn’t done yet, and I’m fully expecting Purdue to keep their foot on the gas pedal for this entire game.
