Having to wait a week between the Elite Eight and Final Four isn’t ideal, but luckily we’ve got the NIT Championship in between. Tonight, two teams who easily could’ve been in the NCAA Tournament face off in Indianapolis for the NIT title. Which team will bring home the trophy tonight, and more importantly, which team will cover?

Indiana State vs. Seton Hall Prediction
Both of these teams got snubbed from playing in the NCAA Tournament, and they have played like it down the stretch. They both have no trouble scoring the basketball, as both teams match up fairly well with each other. Indiana State is coming off a 100-point performance against Utah on Tuesday, and Seton Hall just scored 91 and 84 points against UNLV and Georgia, two solid defenses. Which high-scoring squad will end up covering the spread tonight?
I’m siding with the Seton Hall Pirates on the spread tonight. Robbie Avila has been a great story all year for the Sycamores, but Seton Hall has Jaden Bediako down low to counter with. He will be able to do enough to limit Indiana State’s big man. The real advantage in this game lies in Seton Hall’s backcourt. They have three above-average guards in Kadary Richmond, Dre Davis and Al-Amir Dawes. I don’t see how Indiana State is going to slow down all three of these potent scorers.
You could make the argument that Indiana State has a slight advantage with this game being played in Indiana, but Seton Hall has battled through adversity all season. Tonight won’t be any different for the Pirates, who continue to get disrespected by oddsmakers. Let’s not forget that Seton Hall plays in the Big East, and Indians State plays in the MVC. Don’t let the public’s perception of this Indiana State team fool you; Seton Hall is the better team who’s played against better competition all season.
When the opening lines were released, Indiana State was immediately steamed up to a 3.5-point favorite. The spread has since pulled back a tad, which I love to see before the game tips off. Fade the Sycamores and back the Pirates on the spread in the NIT Championship on Thursday. Seton Hall is starving for a chance to prove to the world that they deserved that last spot in the NCAA Tournament, not UVA or Indiana State. Tonight, they settle that debate.
